They might, but the idea of a package is to combine the items in such a way as to offer a low price yet still make a profit overall. Yamaha and Polk are owned by the same company so the packages are likely set by them, not adorma.

I've seen the speakers alone go for around $250, wait long enough a deal will show up.

adorama is one frustrating website.. they send all kinds of deal to me by email, and when you click on the link you wont see the price mentioned on the email. You cant find the deal on their website either. The website always show some crazy high price that is pretty much always far higher than price elsewhere. I know this wasn't the case earlier, because I have bought photography equipment from there. But shopping the adorama website these days is a bad experience.

Check Walmart. They are around 250 for the s50 home theater Special. Come with front rear and center speakers.

What's the best receiver out there for under $500?

I am not in hurry to buy it today and ok to wait for couple of months to get a good deal.

My 9 year old Onkyo receiver is acting up (HDMI video connection issues) and tired of using it. So looking to replace with the new receiver.

Both speakers are in the same relative price class but that doesn't really say much. I'd bet they both sound really great to many people & would generally be solid speakers.
They likely do sound distinct and different from one another, however the bulk of deciding which pair is "better" is going to be fairly subjective. You would likely need to listen for yourself to determine which pair works better with your room, musical tastes, listening preferences ad many other factors. In the end you may actually not even have a preference between them.
If you are really looking for a solid upgrade have a look at some speakers in person and expect to listen for awhile not just a few quick sound demos.

I stand corrected. I might have been mixed up with Denon. Oh well. Thanks!
