The impact drive is capable of removing lug nuts but it isn't made for that and so it may work in a pinch but I wouldn't use it often.

Lowe's is keeping Kobalt power tools. I'm actually working on the tool reset in my store and we have equal shelf space for both Kobalt and Craftsman.

Good enough to drive screws into wood. Definitely not for automotive work.

Good luck getting any warranty from Kobalt or Lowes.

Had a problem with my les than a year old saw. Lowes wouldn't take it back, said I had to do

that with Kobalt, even though Lowe says to just return it to store. Tried Kobalt who said it is

Lowes problem. Had to get Lowes corporate involved and finally the store manager after

acting like an a hole refunded my money. YMMV. Never again for me.

If Kobalt is going to be discontinued how would you purchase another battery say 1 year down the road?

I wouldn't recommend using this to tighten/loosen car lug nuts. Usually, car lug nuts are torqued in around 90-100 ft lb, that converts to ~1200 inch pound. Max torque of this model is rated at 1550 inch lb, which I think is possible at maximal running speed/battery level. Mostly, this is used for smaller applications.

All in all, it WILL NOT work and can potentially do more harm than good.

Yes. Craftshitman is replacing these.

No there not just looked it up. Lowes made a post saying they are discounting some of kobalts items but will still have online. They will have both. So I'm sure they will replace your item. It may be replaced with something else but you'd still have the warranty.

Good deal.

Just FYI, the impact in this set is a starter impact, not the heavy duty impact that is included in the more expensive Kobalt Brushless sets.

Well, that's uncertain. About a year ago Lowe's said it will discontinue some items but is committed to the Kobalt brand. Around Black Friday, a lot of store employees were telling customers that Kobalt will be replaced by Craftsman and Greenworks. So I don't know if Lowe's even knows what it wants to do with the brand.

Watch for the batteries to go on sale, then buy some spares and store them some place cool and dry until you are ready to use them.

For that task you should prefer a impact wrench
