This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Taxes are not done over here yet either.

Have to focus on selling stockpile this weekend. Cross my fingers I can make some $$$$. I have been laid off since Dec 23.
Need to finish paying off kiddo's tuition in which I owe still owe right until 3k. Renew insurances that lapsed. Plus figured out how you are supposed to COBRA your health insurance when unemployment is 363/week? Health insurance is $1248/month. Cute.....

Fine Fine I am whining....or just feeling overwhelmed. Hoping for a good sale this weekend. Getting kind of excited at the same time.

Also found a nice tear pad yesterday. Team Diet that expires 4/22. At least now I will save on some ink.

Not to get too personal or anything, but is that figure counting the 65% reduction in COBRA payments [about.com] as per the stimulus bill?

And the good news is that there's really nothing you have to do to get it. If you're eligible for the subsidy (the requirements are in the link), the govt will send notices to your former employer, who will, in turn, send notices to you.

Not the greatest SD of all time, but at least that's better than paying "full price". Wink

BTW, I'm in the same boat... laid off just before Thanksgiving. Comfort

Thanks for the link. hug
I know I receive a package for this....before I was laid off. But...where did I put it. My employer paid for the first three months of my insurance. Yes the amount is before the stimulus bill. But still the amount is crazy! I thought are health plan costs the employees less when we switched in 2008. What gives?

You could try going to some other companies for quotes also. I insured all 3 of us through BCBS cheaper with more coverage than our COBRA would have been.

rbo2000 is right... COBRA is expensive. Of all the plans I checked, BC/BS was the least expensive for me.

Thanks,

I will check into BC/BS. I am eligible for the stimulus bill so that brings it down to 408/month; family plan. I did read that far into the link. Myself and the two kids. DD21 and DS17. DD21 getting married in June.

But....I am also eligible for BadgerCare for the youngest kid and I that program will cost 188/month. but...if my part time jobs pay increases so does my premium. My insurance would be like $250 a month for kiddo and I. Better doctors and better choices. Two many options.

I will look into this after selling the stockpile. Smilie Hopefully I do well. So I can pay for two months of health insurance...For whatever I choose I do have health problems, not a smart move not to have coverage. I promised his school half of all my proceeds. To lower the 3000 I owe them.

What a minute...Don't think I will do that good. But any monies will help.

We have yet to do ours. With rental property and all the travel hubby did for work ours get a little complicated.

Saw this on the news this morning and laugh out louded

Quote :
1. San Francisco, Calif. (#5) The Golden Gate City takes the gold this year when it comes to tax procrastinators, moving up from number 5.
2. Houston, Texas (#3) After being booted from the number 1 spot last year, which they have claimed more than any other city (three times), Houston barely misses out this year coming in at number 2.
3. New York, N.Y. (#2) The City that Never Sleeps has made a habit of snoozing through tax season. Although it has dropped one spot to number 3, New York has made it onto the top 10 list the last eight years.
4. Chicago, Ill. (#1) After taking the crown last year, the Windy City drops to number 4 on the list.
5. San Diego, Calif. (#6) The sun and sand are good distractions for San Diegans. Despite being home to TurboTax, San Diego manages to move up to number 5 this year.
6. Phoenix, Ariz. (#13) Returning to the list this year and making the biggest jump (from 13 to 6) is Phoenix.
7. Seattle, Wash. (#7) Seattle coffee must come in handy for all those procrastinators at tax time. For the second year running, Seattle comes in at number 7.
8. Los Angeles, Calif. (#10) Too busy chasing down celebrities? Los Angeles has once again made its way onto the list at number 8.
9. Dallas, Texas (#11) The 9th largest city in the U.S. has gotten even bigger when it comes to tax procrastinators. Returning to the list this year is Dallas.
10. Las Vegas, Nev. (#8) Sin City proved to be too big of a temptation for taxpayers last year. Wrapping up the top 10 list this year is Las Vegas.

Wasn't too bad this year. I almost figured them out even, but ended up paying 100.00, so I'm not complaining.

It is raining so hard here today, and of course I can't find even one of my umbrellas. I just know dd has taken them and left them places or they are hidden in her car somewhere. I looked lovely running through the hospital parking lot with a Target bag over my head this morning. Annoyed

Has anyone tried using the Handi-Vac freezer bags for the Artisan bread? I thought it would be a good idea until the bread started smooshing. I had no idea it was that powerful! Think it would work if I stopped just as the bread started to smoosh? I don't want freezer-burned bread!

Totally a Gummy Bear. Which threw me off because DS totally looked like a little peanut. This one you can clearly see a head. And I'm already convinced that it's a boy.
