This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Oh, and the softsoap deal is hand soap that is on TPC (until 2/6, IIRC) for $2. Use $2 softsoap MQ = free Big Grin

Has anyone tried using the Handi-Vac freezer bags for the Artisan bread? I thought it would be a good idea until the bread started smooshing. I had no idea it was that powerful! Think it would work if I stopped just as the bread started to smoosh? I don't want freezer-burned bread!
You need to freeze the bread first so it won't "smoosh." Then vacuum seal it.

woot Yeah!!! Big Grin

Oh, and I did our taxes the other day. (Didn't submit yet though. I read somewhere it's better to wait to submit until almost the deadline. People who submit early are more likely to get audited since the IRS has fewer returns to deal with, so can spend more time on each one. Probably not true, but a good excuse to procrastinate. Big Grin)

We always owe $$ b/c my job is considered a "2nd income" and therefore gets taxes to high heaven. Sadwalk

Once again, thanks to SBH! That woman is a font of knowledge! Of course, I'm kickin' myself for not thinking of such an easy solution!

Next time I'm in your town to visit my best friend, I'm gonna look you up!

I had wanted the big 6 pod one but only found the 3 pod one at 75% off... which was a good thing now as we have no counter space. But I kind of wish I hadn't boughten it thought - it's going to be an electricity sucker Annoyed

I'd suggest going to a garden store and picking up a few herbs and putting them in small pots on your window sill - we're going to end up doing that too anyways Roll

Is she local? I've never heard of her. I don't like this one bit Nono2 What paper is she in? Sunday? My theory is that people usually only use coupons on things they use. We know the difference. ALL of my family/friends know I coupon and I have a large family. Only my one neice has picked it up and started doing it. So, no matter how much they teach, people either do, or don't.....

She's not such a big deal in our couponing world because I've never heard of her laugh out loud

But sounds like one of the handful of people out there that are using the poor economic climate to try to "teach" people how to coupon and save money, of course for a small fee. I think rule one in those classes should be "Don't pay anyone for something you can learn for free" Wink

Anyway, more power to them if they're talking about basic legitimate coupon use, but if they start straying into gray areas, you could end up creating noob S&G'ers like we sometimes see on here.

Couponing is like a superpower... "with great power comes great responsibility"

The couponers who are in the public eye seem to be the ones who teach couponining classes and want to make a profit of sharing their knowledge. Kind of defeats the purpose of teaching people how to save money if you ask me Coverlaugh

I only found one seed kit and without the main kit, I left it on the shelf Sadwalk

hey, if you want to send the 3 pod my way, I'll be glad to buy it from you Big Grin It's not for me. I already grow herbs in pots. It was going to be for my MIL who is an avid gardener and has everything-except the Aerogarden Wink

Too true! I remember reading a book ages ago by a couponer. I can't remember her name, but wonder if this is her? Scratchchin This was pre-computer for me, so her tips are what got me started. Now I'm curious! laugh out loud I think I sold the book on Ebay, so lesson one was to make your money back after learning and taking notes Coverlaugh

She's local here in the Chicagoland area. Check out www.jillcataldo.com.
Yeah - she teaches "couponing" but we do MUCH better. Cool I don't think she charges for her classes, but she might. She's on a local radio station (Johnny B - Cali peeps may have heard of him) every Monday or Tuesday morning talking about whatever upcoming "deals" there are. Check out her website - I guess I thought everyone had heard of her. Not that I think she's amazing or anything, just that she's a pretty prominent figure in our area - like I said, we do MUCH better!!

By the way, I just learned that my dreamy Kyle Chandler (see avi) lived here as a child too - Chicagoland is good for something other than snow and cold, I guess!!! LOL!
