This is a great price. I got it a month ago for $170. Gonna price rewind to $150 since it's MIR.

This board can run Intel 8th/9th gen. The VRM is capable with 8+2 phases. See
community.hwbot.org/topic/184577-asus-maximus-ix-apex-and-coffee-lake-cpus/

I am currently running 9900k and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro overclocked to 4266 MHz CL 18.

It's a Z270 board. Therefore not compatible with 8th or 9th gen cpus. The description also states that it is not compatible with 8th gen cpus.

Stop being an idiot. You are using the Maximus X. This deal is for the Maximus IX. As it's already been pointed out by rigoperez22, this motherboard is not compatible with 8th & 9th generation Intel CPUs. It says so on both ASUS and Newegg's website. Don't spread stupid FUD.

It's a modded Maximus X Apex BIOS used on Maximus IX Apex, retard.

Thousands of people on HWBOT have used 8th/9th on Maximus IX Apex. Retards like you don't know how to do it doesn't mean others can't.

Thanks for the info. Did you have to do the hardware mod steps? Not sure I'm up for those.

Shorting the pads near the BIOS chip is easy. It's necessary to downgrade the ME and flash the modded BIOS. You could also try using this method without shorting on the motherboard. I personally didn't try it.

The other wiring is to let the motherboard detect the CPU. It's equivalent to shorting two pins and isolating two pins on the CPU side. I preferred modding the CPU than adding a wire on the motherboard.

This can 9th gen CPU with mod to bios. But it will require some work. And I hear it doesn't run full hyper threading on 9th gen cpu. So not fully compatible. Good deal, but I dont want to hassle with mod and such.

Definitely a buy if it wasn't for the rebate.

Which ITX board do you have? If you don't have one already, just buy a Z370/390.

ASUS STRIX Z270I have a modded BIOS.
