I too travel with a ton of ipads and batteries. I use a pelican 1535 as it's carry on legal. The ipads will just stack on top of each other 10 deep. 2 rows if needs. I then use a few battery packs to fill int he gaps on the edge. The pressure from the top holds them in place and they dont shift. Its worked really well the last 2 years.

But off topic, but I need a case like this for travelling that can safely hold about 20 iPads. Is there a way I can customize the foam inserts to hold the iPads in place?

Anyone have ideas...

If it has pick-n-pluck foam, then the foam is perforated on all the axes inside, allowing you to make multiple slots and stacks as needed.

Electronics are quite cheap in the USA, compared to the rest of the world.

Sounds like it might trigger custom to investigate...I read about a man from Hong Kong trying to import 30+ iPhone all strap to his body to mainland China lol.

Yes. The 1535/1510 are the largest carryon legal size cases.
