I dont give a flying flip about a notch.

What I do care about is the price point this phone comes in at. Too bad it doesn't work on Verizon - it's my only option as a corp phone.

Both Wirecutter and Ars Technica recommend Nokia phones. https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-budget-android-phone/

If you're committed to Verizon, they have some decent carrier deals. $200 off the Moto Z3 is pretty solid, and they've had even better sales.

How is this for AT&T prepaid? Xiaomi phones sound good, but apparently not great for AT&T prepaid, looking for the best 2-300 phone for that service

I read on Amazon reviews about lot of software issues and constant app freeze & stuttering, are those fixed in Pie or still same? I know it uses Android one but some level of software optimization is required for underlying hardware if that is lacking then this is an expensive paper weight. Also lot of people complained about charging port failures even after couple of trips to fix center.

835... Better network capabilities, GPU, DSP, UFS, RAM speed, WiFi, BT5, etc. An SoC is more than just its CPU (a single part).

"Best" is relative depending upon your priorities. At least mention a few things that do/don't matter to you.

Very sad CPU performance. 845 is well worth the extra money (or even 835).
