Similarly I use Velcro brand hook and loop, you can use the super low profile stuff that adds basically 0 height to it, makes it so you can detach the ssd if need be and put it back or another one back in exactly the same place

mounting brackets are old hat

While that may be a brilliant idea, I found - since working with these for decades, drives that are not secured stationary - even with the slight vibration - fail faster than others secured properly. Though the SSDs themselves don't have any vibration, there is significant vibration that is caused inside your case by case fans, PSU fans, video card fans etc. Not to forget the ginormous new fancy CPU fans.

Double SSDs in a single 3.5" slot is love <3

$5 is a steal for the bracket plus cables, but I already have plenty of the Corsair ones:

Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket 3.5" CSSD-BRKT2

Roughly $3 more and no cables, but I love the Corsair ones. The Corsair ones are made of aluminum too, so they're practically weightless.

The SATA power cables on these aren't wired to spec. Sata splitters should be serial and not in parallel

edit: got this backwards (should be parallel and not in series), this was corrected down the thread. My previous kits I've bought of these were wired in series.

I tried ordering two - 3.5 to SSD brackets however, after applying the promo code the total came out to some $14 instead of around $10. So I ordered a single 3.5 to SSD and the applied code worked. I figured I'm going to place another order for the same bracket, however the code couldn't be applied again. Is the code a single use only? Anyone else have trouble ordering 2 brackets and getting the promo code to work?

When you say "serial", do you mean daisy chained?
A power splitter configured in the way is perfectly fine. I used to use 2-way power splitters (like this, but with the typical 4-wire Molex connector) many, many times to build 16 (or more) drive CD duplicators.
The only thing I see that isn't to SATA power specification is the lack of 3.3V.

I jumped on this as I could use an extra one ans the cables sure are handy, but I prefer the toolless functionality of the icydock one. I have two of these and highly recommend them: ICY DOCK Tool-less Dual 2.5 to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMGZBP0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

unfortunately these do not work with hot-swap drive trays (caddies), because the 2.5" connectors do not line up with where the 3.5" connectors would be on the chassis's backplane.

Daisy-chained is also parallel; serial would mean that the cable wouldn't work without both devices attached (and at half voltage).
