buy from a brick and mortar store. do you really want your funds tied up on a refund/exchange if you get a cracked screen
You're right, but I have not seen any B&M selling for online prices.

this is true. decisions decisions. I would have bought the 900f instead of the vizio p if bestcam had it for under 1300 after taxes

pass these for IPS panel unless your everyday's viewing angles are messed up
IPS? Yuck, that explains the price.

If you're going for a 65 inch I'd wait for the Vizio P to go on sale, if you're spending that much anyway for under $1000 it's a major upgrade
Vizio P65 is $899 at Costco

Sony 850, 85" for $2500 or the cheaper Samsung nu8000 82" for $1950?

It's a va panel for the 85. 75 and 65 are IPS.

you can also perform a knock panel test at bestbuy. If it shimmers it's a VA panel.

ANDROID TV is the OS and have not heard/read anything good about it. Still have a better chance at getting an update which will probably fix some of the short comings.

THE VIZIO OS is just SLOW and LAGGY!

Do people prefer VA over IPS? Thought IPS was preferred for image quality.

Might be the case.

VA's provide much better contras/deeper blacks/more pop as long as you sit somewhere within 1-20 degrees off center. Best if dead smack in the center.

VAs tend to have 4000+:1 contrast while IPS ~1000+:1 contrast.

Now if you have a very wide seating or watch somewhere like 30 degrees off angle and more, IPS can look much better. OLEDs have better viewing angles but more expensive for the same size.

There are more VA panels from all of the 2018 tvs across all brands and most of the higher rated ones are VA panels other than OLEDs.

I personally prefer IPS because I am sensitive to the poor viewing angles of VA panels and I have tested a VA Panel X900F at home. We are a dying breed.

The 2019 Samsung Q7, 8 and 9 seem to have fixed the viewing angle problems of VA panels though. At least that's what some are reporting.

Tough call. I'd lean towards the 900F for higher brightness and local dimming though. FYI the 85" 850F is the only one in the lineup with VA panel so reviews of the smaller sizes are not really applicable.
If you cant afford the 85x900f then go with 85x850f because it's a similar VA panel. The 850f reviews are underrated because they are based on all other sizes which are IPS. For me the size is more appreciated than features like local dimming.

I purchased the 85x900F as our main family room TV and love it but I'm sure I would have been pretty much just as happy with an 85x850. Between all family members, the TV gets an average of 3-4 hours of daily use so I have no regrets.
