Exact alert I'm looking for. Ready to pounce, but it says I can do 2 year square trade protection for 74.99. Im also a Costco membership with an Amex and a Citi double cash. Whats my best protection?
You cannot use Amex at Costco. Costco uses square trade as well. They are cracking down on baseless returns cancelling folks membership. Not common but is happening more.

Which brand has the most responsive OS? What makes Sony OS bad?
Don't take any one person's word on the OS. I got the 75" for my sister for the last MacGregor fight, and sadly didn't have a chance to get a deal, so her BF ended up shelling out a $600 more. But it's been pretty solid, and we bounces between cable, Netflix and Prime easily and without issue. Wifi seems to work really well with the router being a floor above and on the other side of the stone exterior home wall.

I totally would have gotten the 85" for this price as I want to wall mount it which takes the viewing distance back another foot plus. Having upgraded from a 60" plasma, I still think the 75" doesn't quite fill up the wall yet and pushing it back would just make it seem smaller.

Any chance to get best buy store or bestbuy.com to price match. Thinking of opening credit card to get 10% back in rewards to make the 85 inches TV deal sweeter :-)

This or Samsung NU8000 65"?
There's strengths and weaknesses with both, so the best choice for you is going to be depend on your specific usage/needs. Off the bat, NU8000 has better pic quality than the X850F, but uses a VA panel, so viewing angles aren't as good the X850F which is IPS. Personally, I'd look for a good deal on something that has a full array backlight vs. edge lit. But again, depends on your needs/wants.

I don't think many people commenting actually have this TV, most are just talking about the technology in general with no point of reference. I have the 75" and love it—so much so that I also had the 2017 model and decided to stick with it after my kids cracked the screen with an errant toy throw.

I'm baffled at comments about android OS. I think that's actually an advantage here instead of a custom to the brand one. I've never had issues with it, and as someone else commented, it's super responsive and easy to move between platforms (cable, Netflix, amazon, etc).

As for panels, if this isn't going in an incredibly bright or weirdly angled room, you probably won't even notice. The bigger deal is the upconversion engine, of which Sony is the best. Most (all?) of your content will be going through this and it's much more important in my opinion. If you're unsure, go to a box store and see the TV in person. Ask them to hook up an antenna and see how it looks with content that's not optimized to look good on the showroom floor. Check out the 850 and 900 and see if you can even tell the difference—and if you can, is it worth it. There's a reason this TV costs more than Vizio/low end LG/etc—it's clearly superior.

Finally, this is a very good price. I got it for $1650 (that included tax and shipping) from greentoe over the super bowl. I was nervous about greentoe, but that was a smooth experience in case anyone is wondering.

Just use a Roku or console, skip the Sony apps. My x810c internet is so slow I stopped using it. Once it connects the apps are fine, but takes forever to connect. Even with Ethernet. It's gotten worse as Sony updates it too.

Do people prefer VA over IPS? Thought IPS was preferred for image quality.
IPS is great for a computer monitor but for movies or HDR, IPS can't get dark enough. If you run your TV in Vivid mode, IPS is perfect.

Folks other than 85 inch in this deal, makes no sense to buy 65 and 75
It's IPs panel and most manufacturers dropped IPS panels in 2018
If you look forward 1-2 years, having bought IPS panel TV is like buying plasma TV today !

Unless you look at the displays next to each other in best buy and notice no difference and are okay with whiter blacks, like in a bright living room. I've had IPS PC displays for years and hate everything else.

If they didn't stop making plasmas, many people would still be buying them. Many people who own them, cling to them and rightly so. Having deeper blacks is not the end all. Even VA panels don't touch the blacks in my LCOS projector. It's all subjective, what your viewing environment is like, and what you value more in a picture. Contrast/black levels is only one aspect of picture quality.

buy from a brick and mortar store. do you really want your funds tied up on a refund/exchange if you get a cracked screen
If someone is worried about funds tied up for a 'TV', they should never buy one...
