LG 43UD79-B 43" Class Ultra HD 4K IPS Monitor $499.99 F/S @ Costco.com
$150 off Instant Savings

Valid 3/3/19 thru 3/29/19

This is live right now. This was avalable in November 2018 at $399.00 however I have not seen it at that price anywhere since. They sold them out in November well before the sale was over. Normal price is $649.00. This monitor does ot seem to be discounted muchby other vendors. Buydig (a reliable vendor) sells this for $596.00

One reason people buy from Costco is the great return policy, if the item breaks within the manufacturer warranty, you don't need to pay shipping to send it back to the manufacturer, Costco will give you a full refund and send the item back to the manufacturer for you. That's why even if it's few bucks cheaper elsewhere, it's worth paying that extra bucks for the peace of mind that Costco offers. You also have a 90 day no questions asked return policy. They double the manufacturers warranty as well.

500 is sale average for this monitor. The Acer ET430K or whatever it is for $312 refurbished on eBay might be a better bet. Same panel but semi gloss coating

So is this LG at Costco shiny or matte? Also any other decent options in the 43" realm outside of the Acer you mentioned?

Thanks,

This LG is Matte. There is also the Philips model, same panel, I have seen as low as $300 used on eBay. However, it is older and harder to find at this point. The LG and Acer are the most common. I have the Acer and I personally love it. Minus the occasional annoying black screen thing which might happen once every other day, the monitor is near perfect. Oh Dell makes a 43 incher, but it's the same as this LG one and more money so no point.

Thanks for the info. I have read several people complain about burn in or image retention on the acer. Not sure what's up with that though...

Love this monitor. I switched from Dell 34" ultrawides fo these LG 43". The 4K resolution is more more useful to me than ultrawide 3440x1440.

However this relates back to a 90 day return period no hassles, double warranty. And the ability to return beyond 90 days for a refund as well.

How's this monitor for photo editing? Also, 43" seems huge and not sure if you'd push it back further on your desk vs. keeping it a normal distance. (With a normal monitor at a normal distance, I don't need to wear my glasses... But move a foot or two beyond that and I'm reaching for my glasses.) Thanks!

This monitor is really good for photo editing in photoshop and lightroom. It is BIG though. I'm going to wall mount mine and will have at least 24" between me and the screen. I don't intend to edit full screen all of the time, it depends on the types of images I'm editing. Most of the time I'll have my editing program open on a large portion of the screen and another window with an internet browser open or streaming a movie or tv show at the same time. As far as color accuracy goes, I calibrated the monitor with a Datacolor Spyder5 Pro. I think it was 99% sRGB and 77% Adobe RGB, which I'm fine with. It is a 10-bit panel which means no color banding at least. The last 5 or so pixels on the left and right sides fade into shadow which is common on this monitor, but it doesn't really bother me. I can overlook it for all of the real estate on this screen. Overall, I'm very happy with it having moved from a 8 year old 21" TN panel to this.
