Here is a breakdown just for you,

DFR 6 $100
- least $
- pretty good budget detector

DFR 7 $130 (according to the other deal)
- $30 more
- you get gps capabilities (low speed muting which mutes the detector if you are under a specific speed and gps lockout which let's you mark speed signs and areas where the detectors always goes off

R1 $170-$200
- you lose gps
- you get better bsm filtering (which doesn't make the detector go off when you drive next to cars that has radar safety systems in them, not perfect but works)

R3 $300
- you get gps in addition to everything in R1

R7 $600
- you get everything in R3
- you get arrows that tells you where the cop is
- the gps lockouts are automatic. Which means that when you drive by the same speed sign multiple times the detector will learn on its own to mute it.

Hope that helps

edit: forgot to mention all R units will be longer range than the DFR units. however the range on both lines is very sufficient for you to slow down before getting caught

Pick one with GPS. It is worth it. The DFR7 is nice for the price and I owned it for years. I upgraded to the R3 and love it. The R7 looks great but I also have the Escort Passport Max 360 with the arrows and honestly could care less about the arrows.

this "feature" seems bad to me.

say you are at a stop light (or coming to one) and thus slowing down and not speeding
unbeknownst to you, there is a Cop past the light.

normally your radar would go off, but because you don't hear it due to it being muted and you not speeding, you're unaware.

light goes off and you begin accelerating like a dragster

cop decides to follow your ass for miles because he can and eventually pulls you over when you attempt to drive perfect (anyone who has ever had a cop behind them knows eventually they will pull you over for something stupid)

You can deactivate it and not use it at all. People use it so it can mute when they are driving in a plaza so their radar doesn't go off with for openers. You can also set the speed so if you set it so low like 10mph as soon as you start to drive off from that light it'll go off and still mute when driving near stores since you'll be under that speed. Like everything with radar detectors you just have to understand how it works and set it up for what is best for you. Me personally i have the R1 without gps and i have K band completely off so i basically don't get any false alerts from other cars, signs or for openers but obviously have the risk of not getting alerted too a cop using k band (they don't use k in my area)

Yes. They work and detect fine. But many will say that if it detects laser on you, it's already too late to slow down.

Where are you getting the R1 for $170-200 or the R3 for anywhere near $300?

Not sure if I'd trust this seller... https://www.consumeraffairs.com/r...press.html

I'm sure I can get cc protection but still a waste of time.

NVM: accepts PayPal so that's better. Good price so got it
