Go Here [verizonwireless.com] and add LG V40 to cart using the monthly payments option. Continue with a new line of service.

Add the eligible phone you want to trade-in and the estimated value should come to $300 ($12.50 credit / month for 24 months). What's actually great about this trade-in offer is that they accept older phones like the LG G4 and Galaxy S4.

So here's all the math:

$20.42 / month for 24 months + $30 one time activation fee - $300 for trade-in = $220.08

Sure would be nice if they'd put it on sale for upgraders before it's obsolete.

I'm thinking of just getting the V40 and sacrificing my old cell #. It seems rare that flagship phones go on sale for less than $250, at least with Verizon.

This would be useful to know. Anyone done this successfully recently (pay fully and then cancel the contract with Verizon)?

It looked like everything is through bill credits. So I don't think you can pay off early and cancel the plan to get full credits amount.

So, if i understand correctly, with the OP link, it shows as $40.83/mo at the beginning and we should add that to cart, then add the trade in option and continue the check out and see we see $20.42 at the end?

Yes, but you should see $20.42 before the trade in. With the trade in you'll get an additional monthly bill credit of $12.50 per month for 24 months (a total of $300).

So another way to look at the math would be (20.42 - 12.50) * 24 = $190.08 + $30 Activation Fee

Thanks for the update. So, when can we be able to cancel the contract and port out, if wanted.

I'm not sure what the minimum time allotment is before that's allowed, but either way you'd be losing ($20.41 + $12.50 = ) $32.91 a month in bill credits. So I would probably advise against that.
