Same... unless you treat it like a 'beater'; and at this price, it could be.

It's not my fave, but it's the same color Courtney Barnett plays for most of her live sets.

Not a bad price, but there's no financeing deals so not biting. Unless it's a steal, this is not to that level yet. at $400 flat yes with free ship and no tax def. at $450 no.

Damn good deal. I paid $325 off eBay for a MIC Tele Player Plus in new condition recently.

I would have pulled the trigger on this at this price, even though I too don't like the black, over the one I bought. This is a real Tele, whereas mine is a bit of a Strat/Tele hybrid not made on this side of the world.

A lot of other posters are concerned about the color being black. Don't be...unless you already have one in black. I own a really cool Vintage MIJ Fender Telecaster in black from the '80s. The color holds up really well. Mine looks new save a small nick or two. If I didn't already own one in black I would be all over this deal. While I am sure this one is made in Mexico, these are one heck of a guitar. I wouldn't shy away from the Mexican ones. Especially at this price. These play really well, sound great, and look great. You can swap out the pickguard down the road a lot easier than you can on Stratocaster. I am a big fan of Telecasters.

How does this compare to the newer Modern Player line- which is only $50 bucks more? The MP seems to be getting excellent reviews in general.

The flamed top gives it a lot of visual appeal. It plays well right out of the box and sounds great.

I think this is a mediocre deal. Fender standards aren't very well made guitars, look to something Japanese or American Made. These weren't a good deal when they were $300 10+ years ago.

It is a fine guitar. Most people do not need expensive guitars. Lots of people who snag US guitars and spend over $900 do not even know why they are better in the first place.
