I have this stuff on my fireplace and entry. It's like contact paper for walls. Doesn't damage walls. And if you mess up you can peel it off and try again. I recommend a smoothing tool. Like this Rust-Oleum 95012 Flexible Smoothing Tool

You two are missing the selling point of the product. It is not a traditional wall paper that's difficult to apply and remove. This sticks to the surface w/out the strong water activated adhesive of traditional wallpaper and can be easily removed/repositioned. You literally can remove a walls worth in minutes vs hours.

I wondered the same thing so I went and looked at the product listing -

"Highlights
Peel and stick
Repositionable, and always removable
Safe for walls"

"removable and damage free décor option.
Peel and stick to apply, pull up to remove
NuWallpaper is safe for walls and leaves no sticky residue behind
Fix mistakes easily by repositioning
NuWallpaper sticks to any smooth, flat surface perfect for DIY projects
Ideal for rental home decorating"

Easy/cheap backsplash? Don't really know what we want for a permanent fixture, and this is cheap enough to change colors after a while
