I think so, i've seen videos where people would add extra silicon sealant to prevent leaks. Also REI has a great return policy, "100% satisfaction guaranteed, you have up to a year to return their non electronics products.

I own both the skyrise 2 and 3. I've never had issues with either one. I also used it the other week and the temps were in single digits.

Seems like a solid deal for an entry-level tent. I personally would never purposely camp in the rain and in CA that's fairly predictable if you stay away from winter camping.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. In Moab on top of a cliff. Got caught in really high winds. The other week I was in Copper Harbor, MI and had about 16in of snow fall. On that same trip coming home from Moab was caught in the rain. No crazy thunderstorm, but just a constant fall. The wind was the only thing that scared me. Usually I would sleep with my feet by the ladder, but I was worried about the strong winds lifting up a bit and the ladder popping out from underneath. Slept with my weight on the ladder and all was fine minus the noise.

Keep in mind that this is just shy of 100 pounds. For many couples this won't be a huge issue, but in my case, sadly my better half would be completely unable to help and I couldn't sling that kind of weight on top of my car by myself.

If it's not properly seamsealed from the factory, get some seamgrip or silnet etc (get the one for your tent's type of fabric) a bottle of which costs $5-7, set the tent up in a yard or a park, and apply a thin coating along the seams (gaps where thread was sewn through the fabric, or fabric meets more fabric) to basically clog them up so water can't go through. With water proof fabrics, and the seams sealed, the only water you'll have in your tent will be condensation, your water bottle, and whatever doesn't make it out in the middle of the night EEK! Wink

These instructions especially apply for cheapo tents, which often don't come sealed, as it's a decent amount of labor and they do very high volume.
