these are SE. They also come with a 3.5mm adapter + 1/4" adapter. They also require a pretty good amp to get the best out of them.

What an interesting deal!

If these are anything like the original HE-5, you'll definitely want a basic amplifier. I wonder if these sound much like the original. I don't see any direct comparisons online.

drivers are original. hence why SE. once sold out, they should be gone.

the build otherwise uses newer, lighter materials.

Would a CMoy amp be sufficient for these?

Are you sure? The HE-5 Reissue they did in 2017 definitely had different drivers. They were more like the HE-5LE.

HE5se is not particularly hard to drive. The impedance is 40 Ohms, which is low, but the HE5se might need a little more juice than the specs suggest. A safe bet is to go with a portable amp that has some power behind it. I used the ol' Chord Mojo

I have the massdrop 400 version and they are not easy to drive. Impedance is only part of the equation; you also need to look at the sensitivity. These are rated at 92db/mW. The very easy to drive Koss Porta Pro has an impedance of 60 ohms, but a sensitivity of 101. At the same amp output level, the Koss is much louder.

Not op, but they are totally worth it. I would recommend the portapro x from massdrop, which has an inline mic and remote. The Koss Ksc75x from there is also an insane bargain

Will an ASUS Xonar DG be good enough to make full use of these?
