I've seen some of the greatest games of all time on clearance. If this site has taught you anything it should be that you can get some great deals on great products.

But I do suspect this game is tough to market. It's extremely different from anything else out there (arguably a good thing) and it's not for everybody. You have to have somebody to play it with, and both enjoy the notion of pretending to be somebody else. Playing this game with my ex wife would have been a disaster, because she would have held decision I made in the game against me. I had a blast with my girlfriend.

The game features really nice components, and the best tutorial for a game I've ever seen. You just start playing and follow instructions on the cards as you come across them. There are both shared and individual goals in the game. You must try and reach the shared goals while at the same time balancing your own goals, and hopefully deducing what your partner's goals are as well without them telling you. Fail to meet any objectives, and you lose.

The gameplay itself is just OK, although it does present interesting dilemmas. For example is it worth advancing your relationship goals if it sets back your individual goals? It's really the theme and the rolepaying that sells it, and not everybody will be into that. Many elements are along the lines of presenting a relationship situation, such as a birthday (or an ex girlfriend in town, etc) and asking both players to secretly vote on what they want or what they think the other player will choose. For example, whether to choose an expensive gift or something with more sentimental value. Remember, it's what your partner's CHARACTER would choose, not your partner themselves. Other elements force you to invent stories on the spot, such as the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you on a date.

Read a review or watch a video on it. If it seems appealing to you you'll likely love it. If it doesn't, stay away. If you're on the fence, it's $15 for an extremely high quality game.

I have not played it but have read several reviews about it on BoardGameGeek. One cautionary review killed my interest in the game. It stated that for those that might play it with their SO and are in a long term relationship might encounter some sensitive topics or touchy scenarios that may cause issues. Sort of like a relationship councilor asking a question you don't want to answer or deal with - example: a scenario about money spending and one partner harbors some unresolved feelings about it. Suddenly the fun game turns into a therapy session. While it could help couples open up about difficult issues, it is not advisable to deal with them in the midst of a board game.

As I understand the review, the game is much better with people that aren't in a relationship or in the earlier stages. But it could be a minefield, especially if there is some unresolved tensions in the relationship.

Just something I had not considered about the game so passing it along for others considering the purchase. $15 is surely not a lot of money to roll the dice on it (couldn't resist that Wink ).

Missed the Kickstarter. Also picked up 2 expansions and The Coup ($9) to get free shipping. (I don't live close to a Walmart.)

If you like or think you would like a role playing game it's extremely high quality. If you want to try something different, it's that. You are role playing relationships with traits and situations. It was $50 for base game originally.

Nice! Never heard of it but sounds fun. Added the in-laws pack because why wouldn't you!? Also finally got Codenames since it was $12.

The game is on clearance. I think sales are poor because of people's perception of the game and maybe because it is just a 2 player game. It has a 7.33 average rating on BGG, and anything over 7 is usually good. SU&SD gave it a very good review.

Never heard of this, but great reviews everywhere.

Decided to buy all the expansions because they're more than 50% off compared to Amazon and seem interesting. (Also had to buy something to get free shipping so why not?)
