I just want ONE color bulb for less than $30-40, but apparently that's too much to ask! Good price on the white though.

"California Residents - 2 pack, $29.99"

How's that over-regulation working out for you?
I got a colored one from Walmart for like $15. Haven't had any issues with it.

The product title says "Hue Hub Required" but then it says:
VOICE CONTROL: The Philips Hue White Smart Bulb works with Amazon Alexa to support dimming through voice control. For the full Hue experience and to take advantage of voice activation purchase the Philips Hue Hub (Model: 458471). Search "Philips Hue Hub" or "B016H0QZ7I" to find this product on Amazon.

So would this work with Amazon Alexa without the hub, or do I need a hub? Thanks!

Will this work without the hub, or is the hub needed to control it?

You need the hub + Alexa or whatever smart thing you use.

I'll stick with regular LED bulbs at Walmart for 97 cents for a 4-pack.
