They wear out with heavy use. Also, these are impact driver bits designed to absorb some of the torque when the screw hits its stopping point. Even with that feature, impact drivers can still shatter a bit, so pros carry bunches of the most commonly used bit types, and #2 PH is probably the most used of all.

BTW, if you're looking for an impact driver and/or drill, I cannot recommend the Bosch 12V brushless line enough. I have the PS32 drill and PS42 impact driver, as well as the brushless oscillating tool. Great series of tools, IMO.

Camel says it's been this price since roughly xmas. It's a good deal, though. Amazon needs a way to search exclusively add-on items. They used to have that as a search filter.

a bit less than the Lowe's price, although Lowe's set comes with 8 and a case insert for 6.78$.

I'm in the market for a bosch drill and drill bits. Can someone please explain (real question) why I would need 5 of the same drill-bit? Is it in case one breaks?

For example, this is a link to a 5-pack of #2 phillips - there is also a 15-pack of the same bit.

Thank you.

In case one breaks. But also for carpenters that use these daily.

In my case, loosing it is the missed is common. Also have it for varies drills and driver if you have more than one.

Ever try finding that one and only one bit you have when you need it the most?

I just picked up the Fry's deal on the Bosch 18v circular saw, so was hoping to get an 18v to share battery type. For example, amazon has $20 off on Bosch drills right now - https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Cord...B01CQP9QC4 - which would take it down to $129 for the 2 (not brushless, but good reviews).

Yeah, the 12V line is awesome. I have the Bosch PS22 and helped a friend move into his new apartment. Got everything done with that amazing wee little drill/driver. Excellent power for the size and battery life.

For solid impact driver bits, recommendations? I end up using it for brake rotor screws and mine have been breaking a lot.

I just have a basic impact driver from autozone.
