How does this compare with the 970 EVO NVMe? Building a new comp for gaming / streaming.

Get this or the SX8200 (Non-Pro). You won't need the type of performance the 970 brings, or the EX950/SX8200 Pro for that matter. In fact this is overkill, but still.

Comparable. Meaning similar performance. Here's a few more reviews. Note that for gaming/streaming the EX920/EX950/SX8200/SX8200Pro will perform more or less the same as the hardware and software are practically identical.

The newer drives have a newer controller that makes it faster for reviewers and product marketing but has some downsides in practice that I pointed out in an earlier post making it a wash.

Need the Sammy 1tb for $100 and I'll bite!
Good luck with that. SATA SSDs aren't even at $100.. they're actually going for the same price as this, and this is comparable to a 970 evo...

I've had no problem buying from ebay, you can get ddr3 ecc for dirt cheap if you're using older servers.

I own this m.2 drive. The drive is fast. But support from HP for drivers/firmware is non-existent. Not a big deal if you're looking for plug and play. You can't really beat the value.

Anyone know how this compares to Plextor PX-1TM9PEGN?
I purchased one on Amazon a few days ago for $160.00 and wondering if I should return it because they're even cheaper now at about $135 after 35% discount.
Want to compare with others before I return.
Not even sure if I can return it after I've opened the packaging.

Newegg has a 2 TB Intel P660 for $220 for those who want a little more space.

anecdotal, but at least one review on the Newegg site compares it to the SX8200

This was on sale for $205 last week and note the 660p are not in the same class as HP EX920/950. 660p stores 4 bits per cell vs this one 3 bits. Write durability and speed once the drive is more than half full are worse on the 660p.
