Reconditioned Tools are not every ones cup of tea, but I've had really good luck. These are great prices and especially if you get Tool only you can save a ton of money. These aren't always in stock at HomeDepot.com. Free shipping to home on most, and all get Free shipping to a store.

String Trimmer [Tool Only] $90 [homedepot.com]
Carbon Fiber String Trimmer [Tool Only] $118 [homedepot.com]
21" Push Mower [5.0ah battery] $299 [homedepot.com]
16" Chainsaw [2.0ah battery] $175 [homedepot.com]
Backpack Blower [Tool Only] $139 [homedepot.com]

The carbon fiber is the one I'd consider. It's 50 bucks cheaper than the new tool only. Remember that the warranty for reconditioned products is only 1 year compared to 5 for new.

Thanks for pointing out the limited warranty period on these refurbs. I've been camping on a deal for the 5.0ah mower listed in this post, but will happily pay an extra hundred (msrp is 399) for an additional 4 yrs of warranty coverage on an electrical based item. A 2 stroke motor, I have the knowledge to fix on my own for the most part. These all electric Ego devices, not so much.

Also, they've has sales on the new, unrefurbed stuff that have been at these pricing levels beforehand.

Can anyone compare this string trimmer to the Milwaukee one that's on sale for $199?

Decent prices if you need one now but some of these items go lower occasionally.

The bare chainsaw has been as low as ~$120.

Keep in mind that the push mower only has a 500 watt motor compared to the self propelled which comes with the 1000 watt motor.

This is a BARE TOOL. no battery no charger. Therefore,

If you already own Ego batteries go with ego. If you already have Milwaukee's 18v batts go with them. Trust me try to keep your batts down to as few different brands as possible.

I ordered a 5Ah mower and need a string trimmer too. Is it worth it to get tool only and swap the battery around as needed? Or would you recommend paying the extra for 2.5Ah trimmer battery?
