Note this is the 4GB model. If you game above 1080p you will likely want the 8GB version.

There was a power color red dragon rx 580 8gb for $170 at microcenter within a couple weeks ago... Just as a price comparison. Also came with a free game.

I posted that one as well and is currently $179.99. That is definitely a better deal overall IF you have access to a local Micro Center. For the rest of us this is a pretty good deal for 1080p gaming and has better build quality and warranty than the PowerColor.

The 8gb version on amazon same brand costs $189.99 with next day shipping, much better in my opinion for an extra $20

Agreed but it never ends with the amount of cards out these days. For $30 more than that card you can get a new GTX 1660. All just depends on your specific budget and needs.

Check Newegg. That is the base MSRP for the 1660 non TI which was released today.

Price per performance is lacking here. Not an nvidia fan boy but fact is that the new GTX 1660 blows this out of the water for $220.

Look at the Hardware Unboxed review on YouTube. He breaks it down to cost per frame of performance. The RX 580 isn't too far off the 1660 and he has the 580 priced at $200. Granted that is the 8GB model but I think the 4GB at $170 would have to be around the same ball park. $50 bucks is a big deal to some budget builders.

Newegg has multiple of the 8GB variety from different sellers for $190
PowerColor and XFX both sell for that price.

PowerColor: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...6814131720

Edit: I guess that's $10 above what you said.

Yeah... Amazon has the XFX for 190 as well. There may be some people that only plan to game at 1080p and want to save the $20 bucks. Honestly for anyone that isn't dying to build or upgrade right now I would wait and see what navi brings to the table. Hopefully along with better performance they bring the power consumption way down to be in line with nvidia. These current RX cards are power hungry and typically run hot.

Ah, I mixed it up with the Ti which retails for $280. Thanks

You may or may not be a fanboy - I don't know you but you are a complete, ignorant fool for saying it blows it out of the water.

Having 4-8% more performance and in some cases equal performance but less power consumption isn't blowing anything out of the water, even if they were priced identically. That's not blowing it out of the water at all, especially if you get a 580 for $160-200 and get one of the cards that comes bundled with two games.

The cards will both get you more than 144 Hz in esports/competitive titles, more than 60 fps in very demanding, beautiful single played/story base and 60 fps medium to ultra in 1440p in certain titles.

If the 1660 could somehow give you incredible performance in 1440p that trumps what the 580 does or cost less - sure it blows it out of the water. Unfortunately, I can't exchange the extra eight or so frames I'll get for a beer.

And I wanted to buy a few 1660's to benchmark and build with. I got an alert from /r/buildapcsales saying "The 1660 have gone on sale," and an hour later all of the $219 to $229 cards were all sold out. The only remaining ones were tiny single fan models.

When this card shoots up in price to $250+ like I predict it will when Nvidia "magically" runs out of stock just like with the GTX 1060, it won't compete with the RX 580. Also I'm sure it'll shoot up in Australia and Europe. I have a RTX 2060 and it's been a long time since I've used an AMD card but don't kid yourself here bud. The 580 is a monster still.
