Last week's 8TB drive was only $5 cheaper than the current price right now.

Last week: Retail price of $145 - $10 promotion code = $135.

Now: Retail price of $140.

So you're not actually paying much more. I actually also missed last week's deal by just a couple of hours, but just ended up buying the $140 anyway. Of course if you don't need it right away and want to really maximize value, then the extra $5 might not feel good for you.

Got one a few weeks ago. Blue inside. Easiest shuck ever though. Butter knife and two Phillips head screws.

what is shucking? removing the case to use it as a normal HD?
if so, wouldn't these be more expensive than normal HDs?

Nope large capacity external drives are significantly cheaper than buying bare internal drives right now.

Why do you think that might be? We who buy internal drives are more "enthusiast"?

Yeah, thanks. I might get the 8tb, running out of space quickly backing up movies.

Anyone know if this is good for 4k htpc storage?
