1500W is 1500w. Doesn't matter if it's from a 1500W oil heater or 1500W filament heater or 1500W ceramic heater. They will all use the same amount of electricity.

Unless by oil you mean kerosene?

Why is that? They both use the same amount of energy. The oil filled just sits there heating the oil then metal then the room with no fan to move the air over the heat source. Infrared is just as efficient (unless we are being petty enough to consider the heat after you turn it off lol) but heats up the room much quicker (feel the difference in 5 mins vs 60 mins). I own both and have compared them.
Good discussion. What needs to be measured for comparison is not the amount of electricity they are rated for but the amount they actually consume over say one night of heating the same space. The built in thermostats will turn them off after some time in both cases when the required temperature or level is reached and then turn them back on when the lower limit hits. For oil filled since the heated oil retains the latent heat longer, the off cycles will be longer than quartz and such and so they are slightly more efficient when used for longer periods of time.
The health benefit which is what I switch is that for the oil filled ones they will not dry up the air as the ceramic ones do. A humidifier is mostly needed to avoid nose bleeds and dry skin when using the quartz with fan heaters.

Of course the time to bring room to desired temperature is longer for the oil filled ones. So if you need instant heat, the quartz ones are better though not for say a full night of heating.

They might mean from the infared ones. I have actually been wondering if there are any negative health effects from infared heaters myself. I have been wondering if they put off radiation or anything like that.

Trying to decide between the soliel ph91f and the ph91k. Anyone have any thoughts? I am leaning towards the K because it looks nicer and is about 3lbs lighter.

If you mean ionizing radiation, then no... they do not put out any ionizing radiation. Radiation is one of those words that the misinformed can be scared of even though it's the type of radiation that matters, not weather there is any "radiation" at all.

Light bulbs radiate (or give off radiation) electromagnetic waves in the visible spectrum also known as "light". Microwave ovens give of microwave radiation in order to cook your food. Hell, when I pee I'm technically radiating urine. Even you, yourself, give off infrared heat radiation from your body.

These heaters give of infrared radiation... another area of the electromagnetic spectrum that's "invisible" to our eyes (or at least most people's eyes). It's not inherently dangerous. There's some potential risk to the eyes, but that has to do with high intensity infrared light sources and prolonged exposure primarily because we can't "see" how bright the infrared source is.

Unless you plan on staring into the heater for hours on end without sunglasses on... you'll be fine. I'm not even sure if any of these heaters are even "bright" enough to cause any harm even if you did stare into it for hours on end.

I have the K
It's the newer model. Looks nice as well.
But the first one I got randomly restarts itself. Returned it for another one. New one works perfectly.
Few reviews say it randomly shuts off so make sure you run yours a couple of hours to test it.

I'm sure the F has the same problem.
Remote is a huge plus

the descriptions on both Soleil models say it comes with remote.

I'm also deciding and not sure the difference between the F and K, if the $5 difference would be worth it...

I just read that Quartz heaters are more efficient. I think I will go with the K.

They're both quartz even though it's not in the title of one

Do you think it would be worth the $5 for the extra 3 year warranty?
