This TV is frigging amazing, especially the built in media player. It plays absolutely everything I saved in my NAS flawlessly. It's a steal at this price and I highly recommend it.

I've had this tv for a while now. Paired with my Xbox one X it is pretty close to as good as it gets for graphics.

Costco has 43" for $230 and 50" for $280. I think if you order in Google Express for first time you can get 20% off.

Would you call this excessive backlight bleed? I just received my 55S405 today from Walmart. I really like the picture quality of the TV although I feel the chassis and bezels have a cheap feel to them. My unboxing experience wasn't the greatest. As I lay the TV face down there was a sound like something was loose which kind of scared me. I pit the back mount on and hung on my TV stand. Watched the NCAA basketball game this afternoon, tried Netflix and youtube etc. All looked fine. I was waiting till night to see how the blacks were in dark scenes. Well not too good. I saw a lot of backlight bleed using the normal picture setting. Ran a black test video on youtube and this is what it looked like. I''ve already sent back a JVC (terrible PQ), a Hisense with bad HDMI ports and a defective Insignia FireTV. I really don't want to send back a 4th. Will the bleed get better over time? What would you do?

You said yourself that you couldn't notice any issue until you waited until nighttime to test out dark scenes.

You're not even watching a scene in your photo, but specifically LOOKING for backlight bleed with a test. Dude, it's a $250 TV that does everything pretty well except it shows you some backlight in specific conditions. If you want darker blacks, maybe you spend more than $250 on a TV and go for an OLED, or at least something with FALD.

You like the picture quality of the TV but the chassis and bezel have a cheap feel to them? Wtf do you expect? It's a cheap TV.

Based on your purchase history, (hisense, jvc, insignia) you're shopping in the bargain basement and expecting more than you're willing to pay for.

This was $370 with tax. It's the 55. I had a Hisense 50 I paid $320 2 years ago and it was awesome with no backlight bleed. I expect some backlight bleed on a cheap TV but this is a bit much. It's very noticeable in dark scenes. I'm sorry but every TV I've ever owned the credits had white text on black screen, not this. This is defective. 90 percent of you would take it back. Any owners of the S405, is your bleed this bad?

Just checked my El cheapo $200 insignia TV in the bedroom. Zero backlight bleed. This is SD. We're all cheap.

Hello, I just picked up this TV from best buy. Everything works fine except two defects.
  1. Speaker guard on the bottom is caved in (two ridges/bars on the guard are broken, probably when loading or handling)
  2. Back light bleed.
Would you all be kind enough to tell me if this is acceptable back light bleed?

Just installed this TV. It looks great. Big improvement over my 7 year old bedroom 1080p TV. All for $250.

Thanks for posting.
Would recommend.

Seesh, yours looks worse than mine. Mine is very noticeable if I am watching a movie at night in a dark lit room. I'm on my second day with it and in my lightly lit living room I don't notice it. We will see how it looks tonight. Maybe it needs a day to settle.
