I have one, and there are settings you can apply that lessen banding. I only noticed banding on areas with really crazy color gradients. Watch their picture set up video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meYW4tx9uCU - they will show you what to set to lessen that banding up.

I personally love the TV. Not as good as OLED, but I game alot and did not want to risk burn in for such an expensive item. I am coming from 12 years on a 50" Panasonic plasma, and the black levels on my new 65" 900F are better. That had me a little worried. HDR content is really where it is at with these TVs. The contrast on the 900F is great when fed HDR video.

Ya I need to tweak it because out or the box my q6 is winning right now which suprised me considering the rave reviews this TV has received

Do you guys think it is worth returning the XBR75X850F I just bought for less than $1400 and buying the XBR75X900F instead? Is there really going to be a noticeable difference worth the hassle?

Still waiting for the 85 to drop below $3500; it's been $3800 for a long time. Figured it would have gone down sooner with the 950G's already coming out.

X900F has full array local dimming. I would say for movies with dark scenes (i.e. sci-fi movies in space, etc.) it would be better, but if just watching sports then I would say not.

I don't have these sets, but was looking at X900F. Definitely check RTINGS for their very extensive reviews:

Not really a deal on the 85", it has been sitting at $3800 for acouple months now. This is standard sale price, not clearance price. The 2018 prices should start dropping soon.

Out of curiosity how come this TV isn't dropping in price? Is there new model coming out in 2019? I already picked up nu8000 and very happy with it but x900 was what I originally wanted.

Most 2019 Samsung models are now available and LG said theirs are shipping in April. Sony should be any day now. At CES, Sony originally stated that the 2019 models will start shipping March 12th, but that didn't end up happening. Currently the only information they are providing is "Available soon".
