I saw this ad in my downloaded copy of turbo tax. It was for one free year of Quicken 2019 Starter. I followed the link which appeared to be generic. You can create a new quicken logon or use your existing Quicken ID (which I did). You then go through the prompts, ingore the $34 charge, it showed for me up until the very end when it said $0 for my total.

I apologize if this was posted before, but I was scrambling to find something to replace my 2016 membership that ends in April. I searched but was unable to find anything related to this. I hope this helps someone!

It also mentioned something about 5gb of dropbox storage , but I was unable to find it in my account anywhere. Not sure if I did not qualify or if it takes a while to show up.

Edit: The free dropbox offer showed up as a coupon code about 5 minutes after i snged up in my quicken account. From what I can tell, it is a permanent increase, as it does not show an expiration date. However, I could just be looking at it wrong.

Last time they did this (just over1 year ago) we thought it was permanent too. However, Dropbox rescinded the 5GB after 1 year of time. I couldn't see anything in my account about space expiring due to this promo. I chatted with support who was very unhelpful about why I was suddenly over my data limit and they ended up exiting the chat very abruptly. They said that Quicken should have notified me that the space was going to be removed. When I said they should list that on my account page where they put other "space expired" stuff they shrugged it off and blamed me and Quicken instead.

Just keep in mind for 1 year from now if you're suddenly over your data limit in Dropbox! Still a great deal, thanks OP!

Actually, it's a different a** company now. Intuit still owns TurboTax, but they sold Quicken to a private equity firm called H.I.G. Capital in 2016.

H.I.G. Capital kept the same red box, logo, and fonts to try to fool users into thinking they're the same. But notice that "Intuit" is gone now. They also didn't waste time trying to squeeze as much money from the cash cow. They changed to an "annual subscription" model so you have to pay every year (used to be every three years) and they put intrusive nag screens on expired versions until you pay up.

So this "free" offer is really them trying to pad their numbers so they can tell investors or potential buyers how strong their user base is. Don't fall for it. After 30 years of Quicken I got so fed up that I started using Mint (which Intuit bought before they jettisoned Quicken)

Basically, it gets you the free online updates , and if you do not need any fancy stuff, this should be good for a lot of people. I just wanted to see my balances across all my accounts. Plus you get 5gb of Dropbox storage for free!

Thanks.
Do you know if you can import a current quicken account into this one? I too am looking for a solution to the April deadline. I don't use Billpay or anything fancy, just keep track of CC and checking account transactions.

If you already have dropbox, this adds 5gb to your storage right?

Yep! I just updated my copy of 2016. It basically uninstalls 2016, and installs 2019. It kept all of my data intact. I copied my QDF files to a safe location , just to be safe, but it did not appear to break anything. I also did not see much improvement, maybe more of a "material" theme to the app, but everything else seems to be the same.

That is correct. My storage went from 2GB to 7GB (2GB free + the new 5GB ). I could not find an expiration date on the increased storage either.

Yea I got in on that deal too, and was why I was able to keep 2016 for so long. However, I never did get the free dropbox space last time. For whatever reason, this deal feels more "legit" than the last "deal" (which turned out to be a big mistake on quickbooks part). I guess fingers crossed!

Also, FAQ on the dropbox storage: https://www.quicken.com/support/h...pbox-offer Still rather vague...

My dropbox has 20gb free from some promotion years ago. Best thing ever. This promotion would make it 25 gb if it is permanent.
