You can find benchmarks that show faster ram helps even intel.

you read that wrong. its the fastest stock clock. but if your motherboard supports faster ram, your cpu will run "overclocked" speeds. basically anything over 2600mhz.

Most of the speedy memory deals come with terrible CAS, also looking to maximize my Ryzen but I'm more than a bit dubious of the actual performance increase if the numbers feel fudged on the latency end.

Is there price fixing going on at the top end of the memory market or is it actually worth hoping for a deal on some really snappy 3600 / 4000 modules?

I'm sure with the help of this app you can get it running at Cl14 3400. Maybe even 3600 CL14

do you though? are you editing 4k video on your itx pc?

i cant judge. my main pc has 32gbs. but i just built an ITX pc myself. i had both a 32gb 3000mhz kit and 16gb 3600mhz kit. since its mainly a gaming pc (steam/oculus), i went for 16gbs of faster ram and sold the 32gb kit. glad i did, i heard ram prices should have a dip this year!

What's annoying is an asrock QVL showed ZERO g.skill kits running above 3200, many stuck at 2933, and the only ONE kit it showed at 3200 was a kit with 4gb modules.

I have a 32gb g.skill kit with Samsung b die and 15 latency and no mobos for amd show it as working at 3200. It about tempts me to get intel and sell my unopened parts.

And for the asrock one I noticed both the 14 and 15 latency ones of my model both say 2933, despite being 3200 kits.

they already have had a huge dip since last year. I wish I had waited. I may be building an itx one and occasionally use for 4k editing, btw.
