Here is the link for installing TWRP on the HD10 2017 tablet (the one this deal is for):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...z-t3913639

This is the link for TWRP and unlock on the HD8 (2018)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...t-t3894256

It requires a Linux install to use, however if you dont have a Linux machine or Virtual Machine follow my instructions here using Ubuntu for Windows from the Windows app store and you can get it to work (this is what I did).

https://forum.xda-developers.com/...st79183613

By the way, there is mention that some people are having trouble with this after updating the tablet, so dont let it update (IE: dont let it connect to the internet) before you do this.

As of the writing of this wiki entry there is no ROM available yet, but people are working on it.

Price is good, as they match holiday season deals. But the 10.1 does not perform well. Worst wifi connection on any tab or phone. Drops everything. Slower than dirt. Heavy.

Great .This is my goal (decent build inexpensive full Android tablet). However, in the meantime I don't want the lockscreen ads. Just wondering if I should pay the extra $15.
If you haven't done it before... You can get on live chat and ask them to remove adds for free. I've done it on two devices with zero issues.

I think it's funny people bitch about ads on a tablet designed to sell you as much shit from Amazon as it can.

"Special offers" means it comes with Ads on the lock screen and mid use. Only way to disable is paying $15 fee.
on both of my tablets, i have disabled the ads on both after waiting about 6 months after i bought them. just use the amazon chat feature and ask nicely if they can disable because you believe ads have caused excessive battery drain or you think they have prevented an app from running smoothly but don't tell them you are sick of seeing ads. of course they will say it costs but if they don't immediately say they will do it as a courtesy, just ask if they would be kind enough to do it for no charge for the first time. just be nice, i don't think it helps to claim you weren't told about ad, you were duped, etc because they seem to offer up right away for me without having to ask. i would chat, not call or write.

i realize there are ways to hack out the ads but amazon can turn them off permanently literally in seconds and you don't have to worry about them coming back should you reset the device or root it or sell it.

i have one more tablet that i need to disable and that will happen this summer.

after reading more of the comments, i had one 7" and one 8" in the same room, one with ads, one without.

the one with ads seems to always have the screen light up during the day, it made strange annoying noises and beeps more often, some of the ads were really hard to get rid of if you wanted to simply bring up a camera feed quickly. some of the ads are hard to swipe away and that gets annoying.

for me, there's never anything i would ever buy off those ads without checking here first so to me, the ads were useless. i have a 3rd tablet (my final one still with ads); the screen will need to come alive when i walk nearby (motion presence sensor) and i just wonder if my app will come up on the screen or will the ad show up first; the latter is unacceptable.

How did you get the 25% off instant? For me, it says that once they receive my trade in they will provide the discount

I did the same thing with a 3-year old 7" tablet and got $10 credit applied and the 25% off was immediately available at checkout. No special steps taken except going through the trade-in screens.

Can you still trade in a tablet and get 25% off?
Yes, I traded a 5th gen fire 7 tablet for $10 credit and 25% off of a new HD10

Any idea if the Paperwhite will come back down to $99? I missed it last time and want to get one for my son's birthday. I want him to be able to read without being able to play games, so this Kindle won't work. Plus, I would rather him read with e-ink since it isn't as hard on his eyes. Thanks!

Do you just ask to have the ads removed or do you have to hint around until they offer to remove them?
As others have mentioned, it's quite simple. Just ask them to remove the ads as the tablet is laggy during normal usage. Most reps will do it without much fuss. Good luck.

The price doesn't come down from $150 to $50. Please correct the title.
There is nothing wrong with the title.

If you buy a Fire, you may not need to go full GoldenEye on rooting it, but you should go through the process to download a set of APK files and install the Google Playstore and Chrome.

The default Amazon appstore is skimpy and many of the apps seem old and buggy. Install the Google Playstore and you'll get most, but not all, apps you want. Some apps occasionally will still not install on the Fire.

Example of the process: https://www.howtogeek.com/232726/...re-tablet/

I hate it when you put two products in subject but the lower price is listed be yet the higher priced item is first.
