The 2S has a higher movement resolution at 4000 dpi compared to 1600 dpi with the non-2S. It just means it has a higher accuracy tracking for those who like to game or jobs that require more precise mouse movement like photo editing. The regular is suitable for most people I would say.

At some point you need to consider the 2S simply for the old batteries in this old stock mouse

Hard for me to spend that much on a mouse that doesn't have Bluetooth. Might get the Master 2S at $70. Supposedly has better battery life too

What's the difference between this one (MX Master) and the MX Master 2S? They look almost identical. The MX Master 2S can be used on any surface, but it looks like the MX Master can be, too (says in the description).
I already have the MX Anywhere 2S which I travel with it, but it's a bit small. I would think the MX Master will be more comfortable to use at home.
Thanks.

had mine for almost two years. i'm sure there's some battery degradation, but i haven't really noticed it. as opposed to my fitbit charge 2, which i think the battery life now is at most 70% of what it used to be. i would still highly recommend it, it's a top notch mouse.

i'm not sure how the supply chain works, but i would imagine that if they're still making new ones of this model, they would also be using relatively new batteries, unless you're assuming that they made all their mouse in one shot and the current ones have been literally sitting on a shelf all this time.

I bought one of these in September 2015 and have been using it daily since. The batteries still last a week so I wouldn't worry much about them being already dead in a new unit.

Thank you so much for the answer. The higher accuracy is not important to me.
