FreedomPop 1GB 12-Month Prepaid SIM $14.98 Clearance at some Target B&M Stores (YMMV)

Poking through my local Target's Clearance section, I came across a FreedomPop 12-Month 1GB Prepaid SIM card for $14.98 (regularly $49.99, currently on sale online for $34.99.)

When I got home, I checked Brickseek and of my ten or so local Targets, only two had marked these down to $14.98- the rest were showing the current online/sale price of $34.99, so I assume these are just starting to be discontinued by Target., so if you can use a cheap year of "burner phone" service, check out your local Target (or check the Brickseek link below.)

Target link (for reference- online it's on sale for $34.99, which honestly isn't a bad price for this, but it's no $15!): https://www.target.com/p/freedomp...A-53511519

Brickseek link to check your local Target stores: https://brickseek.com/target-inve...80-02-1798

This is my first deal post, so be gentle. Smilie

Now cue the usual posts ranting "FreedomPop SUCKS!" (and they certainly do suck! Prepaid SIMs are the only way anyone should use these clowns because you don't have to give them any credit card info that they'll "accidentally" charge later!)

Does anyone know if the phone that's activated can be used as a hotspot?
Could this SIM be used for a mobile hotspot?

TIA

Man... $35 for a year is already slick... I used my $25 off voucher (+ red card) yesterday to buy 3x of these. (some would be gifts). Don't feel super bad not getting this price, because they're either limited stock or $25-$35

I think it's worth getting this personally, especially with whatever is going on with Sprint / TMobile... as well as Sprint not offering the 1 year plan anymore as of this week. Mint will probably continue to have deals on plans a few times a year, and same with redpocket... but not sure about any other competitive cheap options

wondering if you can get 500mb of data free with FreedomPop friends and family

Thanks, OP! I'll keep an eye out for this. The service on these 1GB SIMs is way better than the 200MB free plan. I've been using one since last August.

They run on the AT&T network. The BEST thing about these, is that Freedompop doesn't have your credit card number! They can't bill you for more junk.

Still $35 in my area, but I'll check back in a few days to see if it's dropped.

Do you know if they have to be activated by a certain date?

So how does service on this work? Is this sim only valid for a year or some limited time.

would this count as a valid number for transferring to another carrier for those deals they run? Like Google Fi?

Do these have expiration dates? Like do you have to use them after a certain amount of time after purchase?
