I picked up two of this exact kit (32GVRB) last month for $10 more per pair (159.99). I'm currently running them with a Ryzen 2700x on an Asus X470 Gaming Wifi 7 board without any issues; I was able to load XMP profile right out of the box.

I have not bothered trying to overclock them, but all in all I've been very satisfied. They passed a bevy of both Memtest86 and prime95 torture tests without breaking a sweat. YMMV, of course, but to anyone worried about this RAM's compatibility with AMD, especially at this capacity (16GBx4), I can provide one positive data point.

For people asking about timing and speed and what is necessary

1. For Intel CPUs, it makes very little difference past 2666 mhz even if using the IGPU. Just buy a reliable, proven C15 or C16 stick at the lowest prices you can find. Make sure you buy matched pairs when MB supports dual channel which has the maximum benefit. 16-32 GB will be sufficient and better than just 8GB. You don't really need any of the fancy heat spreaders and Ninja coolers on the memory. You don't even need any spreaders.

2. Memory is much more critical for AMD cpus which relies a lot on the memory for graphics. Buy as high a speed as your MB will accommodate in your budget 3000-3666 at C16 or less. Matched pair for dual channel and make sure the memory is compatible with the AMD CPU which is a lot more finicky with memory. There will be some benefits from overclocking and you need the spreaders to manage heat when you overclock.

The rest is all eye candy and marketing.

The timings on the 32GB Aegis kit aren't great (19-19-19-43), but at 1.2V there is probably some room to overclock and tighten timings by increasing the voltage towards 1.3V or so. Also, no heatsink on these, just stickers.

How much do the timings matter for 3D animation and video editing? I know I need to upgrade my RAM, and my MOBO has a max speed of 2666, but should I look for better "timings"?

It's the SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOW roll of progress... ram is usually last to get cheaper prices for higher density.. SSD is faster now because they breached the 1tb barrier to mainstream entry level...

Computer memory (RAM) does not really affect rendering speeds all that much because the CPU and GPU does the mostly responsible for the task.
