Popups driving me nuts

1,130 671 April 5, 2019 at 04:50 PM
I am getting these black box ads in the lower right hand corner of my screen about 2 inch by 2 inch. It takes up a good portion and there is no way to get rid of it. Just clicking on it ANYWHERE will bring up that page. I have gone through my chrome settings and can't figure out how to get rid of them. I tried to switch to another browser and it was very frustrating.

I am a participant in a cognitive study online from the University of Dallas and just as I was finishing a particular section, the thing popped up and it took so long to get rid of it, I really messed up that study.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Install a proper anti-virus\internet security program if you have not already. Install the free version of Malware Bytes and run complete scans. Then install Ad Block Plus in your browser. I would also get rid of the spyware otherwise known as Chrome and switch to Firefox or another browser.

Thanks...I know you are right. Chrome is just too problematic and it is spyware. I got so fed up not long ago with google search that I switched to something else and it was so darned slow I switched back.

I do have McAfee, but I much appreciate the other suggestions.

Chrome is not your problem. Lack of understanding what you have is the problem.
Learn how to use msconfig and see if it's running from there.

I would say 80% of peoples problems are installing software and not unchecking the boxes that ask to install other things. READ before clicking ok

If it's only in Chrome then it's probably just notifications, not real popups. Go into the Chrome settings and look for the notifications area and remove the websites you don't want notifications from. Some bad sites could be giving off notifications every couple minutes so it seems like pop ups.

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Charlotte, NC school shooting. 2 killed 4 wounded. April 2019
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.
