Geek Squad Certified Refurbished= 2 guys that checkmark boxes and don't really go over anything and then slap on a sticker + markup 20%

I would advise against anything labeled Geek Squad Certified Refurbished.

I'd like to know if this is true. What is the process of sterilizing these worn units?

Not sure why. I'd agree I don't want whatever was in a stranger's ear. Hopefully they replaced the flange things.

When I had a job it was at the Geeks and I had co-workers that did this nonsense. Customers would come back furious. Often times the checklist went "missing".

I'd avoid buying these in anything but new condition. They have a defect where water/sweat gets into the charging port and kills them. I think Apple has been pretty good about acknowledging it and replacing affected units, but I doubt you'll get help with preowned/refurbished units.

Also, the regular sale price of these has been $99 so it isn't that much of a climb for the peace of mind. Although give the issues I'd maybe look at another (probably more affordable) pair of earbuds.
