I didn't see this posted yet, so I thought I'd share for those of us that missed out on the Best Buy deal a few days ago. This is $50 more but still saving from Apple MSRP. There's also no tax for Florida, not sure about other areas. PLUS - free shipping

$999.00 - 8GB/128GB:

I actually had BH price match and they did.
Good deal?

Did they ever fix the low-quality webcam issue with this vintage?

Yes, they did. This has a FaceTime HD camera which is much better than the original.

I think this is a good price. But the catch is they are still having the display cable issues for 2018. Without Apple care it's a serious risk.

Also bestbuy has it for same price few days ago.

Hopefully in a month or so we might see 2019 and they might fix this...

It's pretty sad that I would rather buy a 2015 MacBook Pro than anything they have released in the past few years due to all of the issues the new models have.

Source? I haven't heard of this on the MacBook Air.

Is there a new version on the horizon? If so, what's new/special on the new version compared to this?

The display cable issue is for Macbook Pros (although Macbook Air uses the same design so I don't know if it has manifested there as well)

Apple has become a shitty company in taking responsibility for its design issues. Trying to keep up with Wall Street expectations with no Steve Jobs to create new revolutionary products creates pressures to cut costs.

If they made this a quad core 8th gen i5 and 256gb ssd as the base model for $999 then all of us would stfu. But no, they are greedy and keep giving us these shite 128gb ssd and fake i5 cpu.

Right and the speed increases have mostly been in SSD speeds. I'm not scared of the design failures. I have back-up mac mini and costco has 4yr warranty.

What stops me from buying is the 13" MBP 16GB ram is special order and not carried by costco. I don't want a 15". I don't want the size nor need the video card.

Yes and the air 128 SSD speeds are fairly limited compared to the larger storage. They do the same thing with the mac mini they refreshed last year. Also the base 2019 imac still has a spinning hard drive. Pathetic.

Write speeds
128GB -> ~600MB/s
256GB -> ~1.3GB/s
512GB -> ~1.9GB/s
