This prior FP deal is back. (link below for prior threads) I had bought this previously, and when looking at my order I see it is back on as a deal.

$299.99 I used reward points at Samsung. (Note, I just checked and there is no EPP discount in addition to this.)

I'm loving my unit. If I was Zaphod Beeblebrox I'd have no regrets in buying another set.

Also, note that some reported B&H being slow at shipping this item due to lack of stock.

FYI: In GreenManGaming 5-4-4 sale, there is ADR1FT listed. https://www.greenmangaming.com/5-4-4/

It's a VR game on Steam. Place it in the cart via the 5-4-4 link and it shows up at 80 cents. (EDIT: It does look like you have to by five games for $4 total Frown

ADR1FT is an immersive First Person Experience (FPX) that tells the story of an astronaut in peril. Floating silently amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen, the only survivor struggles to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.

Why AA batteries???
Not just AA batteries. LOTS of AA batteries, seriously you are going to want to invest in rechargeables, this thing eats the, and spits them out. Otherwise pretty good.

Got mine from the Amazon deal today, playing with it now. Honestly the whole thing is more impressive and immersive than I expected. Only downside is that my head may be too big for these. Always ruining everything.

I used my 130 certificate from purchasing a s10. When they sent it originally this was on sale but they took it down a few hours later. So I am happy to see it back. Excited to see how it is when it arrives.

This is a PC device that supports Windows Mixed Reality. There is a WMR plugin free from Steam that will allow it to use Steam VR titles. Add Steam VR to your Steam account and some of your titles may already show up under the VR tab. Otherwise, there are free Steam games to get you started. The Lab by Valve is a fun introduction.

As for as an SDK, WMR development is built into the Windows 10 SDK/Visual Studio if you are a developer type. Much is done under the Unity game engine because it's SDK has WMR support built in.

Some older stuff with a little tweaking is supported under vorpX : https://www.vorpx.com/

It kind of does on-the-fly Stereo 3D of first-person games written to use DirectX/OpenGL It's $40, but I've not used it.

I can't say with 100%, but so far all Steam VR games I've come across it plays. It's more akin to the Vive than the Rift. So, I can't say it will play all Rift titles.

Would I be able to use this with the Oculus platform?

All my VR games are on there from my rift.(broken).
Oculus games can be played using an unofficial app called Revive, which will run them either through WMR home or SteamVR. This is the same as for Vive users. You will not be able to use Oculus Home in the headset but the desktop application will work for accessing the store/games.

Steam has an official version of SteamVR for Windows Mixed Reality so yes. Some games that only list Oculus and/or Vive compatibility might require remapping buttons. This is sometimes true with the other two platforms as well, if they're not officially supported by the game.

Since nobody asked... how's the porn on this thing compared to the Rift?
The display is higher resolution with practically no SDE and a wider FOV, so watching videos and desktop use is better. On the software side, there's no difference.

Appreciate you mentioning that since I bought it on PS4 but never played it and for a couple bucks I'm willing to buy it again for my new toy. Looks like the previous low on reputable sites was $5 so even with four other decent games that's still well worth it.

VR is real right here and now. If u don't have one, you need to. If you don't have a gaming PC, you can buy the Oculus Quest on May 1 for $400, no pc, no wires, no sensors, it is standalone real VR
will the quest have similar resolution and better comfort?

Same resolution but Quest has a mobile CPU/GPU, while this uses a PC, so this will have much better graphics.

Comfort is subjective but AFAIK most people found the Rift (Quest looks similar to the Rift) comfortable and many reviewers found the Odyssey+ uncomfortable. I have both and mostly find them equally comfortable on my head, though O+ gets the nod for being roomier with glasses. O+ is much more breathable if I'm playing a game that makes me sweat.

Some other pros and cons for each: PCVR by its nature will always have vastly more games and variety of content. Current WMR controllers aren't very comfortable, while Quest's are.

This is listed as VR support, but has mixed reviews on Steam. In the same GreenManGaming as a selection, if you need a filler.

Biggest drawback IMO is this is basically a stand-alone console with mobile-phone-like CPU processing. I think there will be a Steam-link type support to echo one's PC game to the Quest, but I'm not sure of how useful it will be.

Nice find. Another thing you can do if you know others with PCVR setups is buy 5 copies of ADR1FT, which is what I did. Because I know I won't be playing any of the other games, since I already have too many as is, and pretty much only play VR games these days.

Think I found an acceptable spot where it's actually on my giant head without crushing my glasses into my face too too much. Just messed around with some stuff tonight and definitely had some of those "I get this now" moments. I bought it for sim racing and the occasional game like Beat Saber and think it will be worth it for that as long as fit doesn't wind up being an issue, not sure how much content there will be for me beyond that though.
