My unsolicited advice would be if you can watch in a darkened controlled setting get the LG C8 and the picture quality can't be beat. If you cant control the light / sunlight coming through the window for those lucky to be home watching during the day get the Samsung Q9 or Vizio PQ.
C8 Advanatage Perfect Viewing angles, Excellent Blacks, Flawless contrast, this all translates to practically the best viewing experience when watching a high resolution movie.

Samsung Q9 is Samsung's Top Of The Line TV and the best LED technology from 2018. BRIGHT 2000 NITS which means you can enjoy TV viewing even with sunlight blasting through windows.

Amazing low input for gaming and support for Free Sync, simply the best TV if you are a gamer.

There are many pros/cons vs the C8 to the Q9 but ultimately here's the final take. Controlled lighting environment and strictly movie watching C8 is the better TV, if you watch Movies, Game and cannot control your lighting environment then I would definitely give the edge to the Q9.

The Q9 Led technology is a much brighter Television set, C8 has a limiter on the lighting that can be very frustrating as your screen may be adjusted (dimmed) and nothing you can do about it.

They are both very expensive TVs and equally compared as they are the best of the best with pluses and minuses

Any idea how low it'll get once 2019 model hits the market.
2019 models are in store now, and the 2018 Qs have been discontinued. If you want it, now's the time to get a 2018 model.

Great post. Q9 is a terrific tv for open floor plans and will dominate any sunlight in the room. If folks are afraid of OLED brightness, I'll say that if the screen isn't being hit by direct sunlight, you're fine. Ambient light on the OLED is no issue. The Q9, however is so damn bright that it laughs at any other light source and maintains a fantastic picture.

I watch hockey, football, basketball, game on XB1X, PS4, Switch, my kids watch their shows all day long (kid's programs really shine on the Q9). But let me say, Enter the Spider-Verse on the Q9 was breathtaking the first time we watched it.

Only warning I'll give is with the One Connect box. If you're wall mounting the tv and have to run through a chase or under a crawl space to the OneConnect, the cable provided is only 15' (5m) long. There is an option for a 30m one connect cable, but the thing is $300 usd. I ended up mounting min on the wall behind the panel, but I thoroughly dislike seeing it from the side. It's almost enough to make me want to step down to the Q8.

Good post. One other thing to add is the Q9 doesn't have burn in.

Once MicroLED TVs come out,it will end this conundrum of Brightness Vs picture quality.

Great panel but Samsung firmware sucks. Look at the Samsung support forum and the unresolved issues with subtitles dimming the whole panel, and also issues with waking up the TV. My Samsung won't wake if I shut it off while in Game Mode on the PC input. And I have twice had it wake with giant glowing garbled garbage on screen (might be related to the quick start feature or 4k freesync).

The design on this is also much better than the C8. If you get the mount that is available it is flush with the wall. Also having the family portrait in ambient mode is a great way to sway the lady to let you get a $2000 TV.

A person that does their homework will know this is no SD...really needs to be under $1500 to be a deal, otherwise go with a C8 on sale...
Can we copy your homework? Where can I find either for $1,500?

Thanks!

QLEDs are currently better overall performers than OLED. Main factors being the stutter of OLEDs for 24fps content, which happens to be most movies and the fact that they are half as bright as the QLEDs which means much worse HDR performance.

Color volume is also much better for the QLEDs.

Lots of misinformation on the internet spawned from RTINGS terrible interpretation of data and extremely biased methodology.
