I like the WYZE security cameras better, and they are only $26 (got one on sale at $20, but planning on buying more even at $26)

https://www.amazon.com/Wyze-Indoo...B076H3SRXG

app is easy to use
works with Alexa, "Alexa show the front door"
holds 7 days of events for free even without an SD card
US-based company
WYZE is a rebrand of Chinese company Xiaomi headquarters in Beijing.

All the reviews for that camera look scary. People are saying the camera still uploads data to offshore servers when offline and it clones its Mac address if you try to assign it a static address behind your router, so it will get a new IP address.
It uploads to AWS and I have assigned them static IP's and monitored the traffic. I have 4 of these for specific areas I want to monitor. I did have an issue back in November that caused 200gb of data usage doing "reuploads" of events. The video is good on Wyze but the audio is terrible. I did have YI cams but after monitoring usage they were definitely sending data back to China and bought Wyze.

I also have a stand-alone Q-See 8cam NVR, used their support and generally happy with it.

Don't know if that's right. Where did you find this?

Where is Matt? I guess it's not LaView so he doesn't feel the need to push the sale?

Anyways, these cameras are very meh. You can get American or Chinese cameras that're a lot more popular with a lot better apps / physical features than this one. I'd pass.

Hi Dave...

If you're referring to me, I do not work for LaView.

Also, just note - just about all the major electronics hardware we buy is now made in China.

In terms of this particular Q-see camera this is the first post I have seen for it, so I have little knowledge of it.

I love my Wyze cameras. They have sold over a million units in a few years. I'm extremely skeptical of the few bad reviews and the rest that just parrot those reviews.

This looks decent. The Wyze reviews are scary.
The bad Wyze reviews are from QSee employees

isn't there a good home security cam that doesn't need to be connected online, only local storage or network?

Once again...as with any WiFi cam deal on SD, you get tons of Wyze spam. Same posters acting like that is the only option out there.

This is 100% the reason I'll never, ever touch a Wyze cam.

Well, that and the Fakespot Grades:
https://www.fakespot.com/company/wyze-labs

https://www.fakespot.com/product/...nd-android

https://www.fakespot.com/product/...b8f8881a95

They have posted the same product on Amazon multiple times to cover bad reviews.

Yeah, not shady at all. +4,000 reviews in last few months.

Jan 2018: 299 reviews
Jan 2019: 2736 reviews
Apr 2019: 6046 reviews? lol really?
