Nice settlement deal. However, while no receipts are required to submit a claim, the claim administrator has the right to request documentation substantiating your purchases, so... the question becomes... how many do you claim in hopes they don't audit your claim.

I seriously doubt most people have receipts lying around from some random chips purchase. If you claim 10 and have a zealous claims admin, odds are you're not gonna end up with anything. YOLO?

Just out of curiosity what's the worst that can happen if, in these types of settlements, you get audited and don't have receipts or documentation? I'm thinking that people would just sign up on every one of these types of settlements, even if they never used the product, and claimed the maximum for anything that didn't require proof. Can you get sued or go to jail or something bad like that? Or worse case is you get less money than you wanted or no money at all for that settlement?

This is like asking what if you make up stuff when you file your taxes. Nothing is stopping you except the risk of an audit.
Not a good analogy. At worst, you may be determined to not qualify and that is the end of it. You lose nothing.

It is not illegal to not keep full recording of your various snack food purchases.

Definitely have purchased way more than 10+ bags of various Utz chips over that time period, but certainly haven't kept any receipts.

The Settlement Administrator has the right to request verification of the purchase of Eligible Products, including, but not limited to, documentation demonstrating purchase of any or all of the Eligible Products purchased during the Class Period. If a Class Member does not timely comply with and/or is unable to timely produce documentation to substantiate and/or verify the information on the Claim Form, the Claim shall be disqualified.

I love their spicy chips. Eat a whole bag in one sitting. This will give me money to buy more. Too bad the bags are no longer 99c at the stores.
