The one on Amazon is described as having an 18 inch cord whereas the one at HD has a 6 inch cord. I got the one at Amazon.

I ordered this because it advertised and 18"cord. They sent one with a 6" cord. Complained, and they sent a replacement - also with a 6" cord. I gave up and used the one with the 6"cord, as I was tired of manually turning on half my lights.

Probably cheaper than an outdoor smart switch

I often think the same thing. Three years ago I bought an outdoor timer then 2 years later went with smart switches. Unless the WiFi won't reach, I'd say go with the switches.

I was looking at the same thing. I find smart switches that are outdoor rated are closer to $30. I have a set of string lights and the outlet is close to my house so wifi would probably work. Also it would be nice to control them using sunset time instead of the same time every day. But if you have an outlet with outdoor lights or other electric that is too far from the house for wifi (or you dont mind the same time every day) then this does the trick for $7.50.

Thanks for pointing this out. I got it anyway for my dual speed pool pump. 1HP (11A) in high speed, 0.16HP (2.9A) in low speed. I usually use the pump in low speed mode, but often enough in high speed that I would burb the timer out in sure. I'll just use the timer on vacation.

If you can get a wire into your garage or even through a window, you can use a smart plug instead and have significantly more control.. for example if you want your border lights dim but if your security cameras detect motion, it brightens them all up.. it offers both an additional security feature and actual power savings in an extremely simple setup.

Horrendous reviews on Amazon about how hard is to setup and mostly not working.
