Gen 2 went for a more neutral sound. These are more "fun", which means there's a decidedly stronger emphasis on bass, although they're not muddy sounding like Beats headphones. They're great for non classical music as well as video games and movies/tv.

I'm in the same boat. I have the wired version as well and I listen for several hours a day. I did upgrade to the XL cushions and I'll say it made a huge difference in comfort. The cavity of the pad isn't so much that it's wider, it's that it is deeper and offers better sound isolation and comfort. It was well worth the purchase for me.

I think these are a prime example of how subjective sound is. They are absolutely not neutral, but they aren't marketed as monitors. And let's be honest, if you're looking for monitors, but you're using Bluetooth, then you're doing things wrong in the first place. I personally enjoy the sound signature on these, though I EQ down the bass a touch for my listening preferences.

People just need to keep in mind that sound is subjective. I think for $100 if you're looking for some nice looking headphones with a fun sound signature, these are a solid choice. Even better that they're wireless. If you're listening to flac music, or anything in a near studio level recording, you're probably going to want to pass on these. Again, though, if you're doing that you probably aren't listening to Bluetooth headphones in the first place.

This seems like a pretty solid price. What's the difference between this and gen 2?

Bought these back in January for the same price and absolutely love them so far.

Upgraded the ear cushions on day one and use them on international flights all the time.

Gen 2 are also foldable. Both use micro USB though.

For what it's worth I've been using gen 1 (the ones in this deal) for around 3 years daily. As a gaming headset with the boom pro mic as well as for wireless headphones when traveling. Absolutely love them. Really well built and they have great customer support. Upgrading the cushions is a must though as mentioned above.

This is so so so tempting, but the Gen 2 being foldable is a deal breaker!

These can make a solid gaming headset when paired with the V-Moda BoomPro mic [amazon.com] (will only work when not connected wirelessly)

keep in mind there's no ANC if you're trying to use these on an airplane or a train.

no aptX on these either

still, for $100 this is a very good deal

I got these when they came out and do not like them at all. Sound leaks, bass lacks and I have the xl cushions too. I believed the hype on VModa and wouldn't buy anything VModa again. I basically use them only for meetings with the headset attachment
