OSx86 forums & wiki are great reference for every step of building a compatible system. Be ready to backup your install the second it's stable- maintaining a hackintosh requires some finesse / patience, but is worth it. I've built units using Gigabyte & Asus motherboards, Core2 through i7 CPUs & many GPUs along the way. Many components will work, though starting with already proven parts is ideal.. Those forums can help troubleshoot, keep your hac running well. Good luck!
