My big complaint with the Tap is that its not considered an 'echo' device, so it can't be added into home groups for whole house music. Very annoying

This is completely portable with a builtin battery. I'm sure the microphones and speakers aren't as good either as it is an older model.

I ordered this a couple of weeks ago on a Woot deal. For $35 I love it! I brought it to work with me today and I'll be packing it for my trip to San Diego later this month.

Great speaker, honestly not sure why they didn't further evolve it, the portability is clutch. Sounds great, it's small enough but packs a good punch. Has great battery life and is water resistant. It no longer requires you to 'tap' to talk, software updates allow to only use voice now.

If you're looking to use the voice aspects of Alexa frequently in a larger room, I'd recommend the newer echo dot. If you're looking for a portable speaker that has built in Alexa functionality used occasionally, I'd highly recommend the Tap at this price point. My intuition tells me they'll quit supporting the Tap so I wouldn't bank on the Alexa capabilities and expansion down the road.

Great to grab and go with occasional Alexa use.

I also ordered this last deal. It came with old original firmware, so had to let it sit awhile to auto update(couldnt find a way to force the update and get the voice command feature). Note: it was smaller then I expected having UE Mega boom, but it gives out decent sound. A no brainer for $35.

I have a tap, and both 2nd and 3rd gen dots, the tap has better sound than the 2nd, not as good as the 3rd, but I feel its much more convenient to be able to hit the button and ask stuff than have to rely on a dot on the other side of the room that may or may not hear the wake word

I used to have one. The only problem I had with it was that the far field voice recognition didn't work well on it so when it's used at home with other echos it's kind of wonky

I love my Tap, but they have long ago stopped supporting it, never added basic Alexa features like drop in. It's a great little speaker.

Have 3 shows, 2 spots, 4 3rd gen dots and two taps. The taps are probably our favorite. We can take it anywhere. We usually use it outside the most, but our youngest likes to carry it around the house asking her to play music.

If you want a portable Alexa device, this is a great price and good device.
