Very old Slickdeals joke from back in day when some devices that nowadays always have hdmi (laptops for example), didn't have hdmi on a particular deal being posted.

Joke just has never died.

Are these compatible with AM4 motherboards? Googling seems to suggest they are but I wondered if anyone could confirm since the threads I found were kinda old.

yes they are compatible, but the older Ryzen mobo's often could not run certain modules at the full rated spec. Some 3600 RAM would have to be run at 3200, timings increased, etc. You'll find a lot of links to Samsung B Die when you search for Ryzen/AM4 memory since these modules are the most likely to run at full spec. The price on this sale is so low that even if you had to pull it down to 2666 speed it's still worth it. I have this same kit running at 2666, but I didn't really try to tweak it any higher since it was just for a HTPC.

Ryzen has matured to a point where just about any and all ram will work on Ryzen.
Everyone figured out Ryzen likes even timings and manufacturers fixed this with updates to set ram to the correct timings.

you'll have some odd exceptions here there when talking about speeds above 3000 but for the most part just about any ram is safe.
