You may also trade in an eligible tablet for up to $250 off; the exact value of each tablet can be found in the checkout process here [samsung.com].

----------

Author's Note
Free items aside, I think the S5e is a show of progress in terms of Android tablets because this particular market has been a bit dry. I have been following S5e news since CES 2019 and think this tablet has high value for consumers, especially because the older S4's price starts at a higher $529.99, and even the much older S2 and S3 models are expensive and still sell well.

Product Specifications
  • Release date: 04/26/2019
  • OS: Android P

  • Camera: Rear: 13MP AF; Front: 8MP AF

This is bad. I love writing classroom notes with my S-Pen.

Does S5e stand for S5(excrement edition)?
The E stands for "essential."

It looks like this tablet isn't made for your demographic. Samsung will likely release an S5 that has all the features of the S4 sometime later this year, and that may be more inline with what you'd like.

I think I really dig this tablet because some items have been trimmed away and it fits what I want perfectly. I have absolutely no use for a pen and headphone jack. I've never used styluses and haven't used wired headphones in maybe 4 years; I currently have a Galaxy S9 smartphone and have never had to use the headphone jack.

Thanks for responding,
Tofu Vic

The reason for this product to exist essentially is to be able to watch videos it's gorgeous OLED screen. You don't need an OLED screen if you are just browsing the web or whatever. This should support HDR or Netflix if anyone cares
This right here.

I picked up an S4 couple weeks ago, with the edu and a $25 GC offer I received it was $405 net. The OLED screen is just a thing of beauty for Youtube and Netflix and my Bluray rips in my Plex library. Makes non HDR contents look HDR. I have an iPad Pro 10.5 since release. Non HDR titles on the S4 looks better than "Dolby Vision HDR" on the iPP.

App support is the biggest question mark on an Android tablet. The Youtube app doesn't support HDR on the S4, yet it does on the Galaxy phones. Also, it may be a while before Netflix whitelists the S5E to enable HDR on it, although like I said HDR is almost a moot point having an OLED screen.

I prefer watching stuff on my S4 at 10" from my face, over watching on my 65" LG OLED at 10' away laugh out loud

I haven't even taken the S pen out of my S4 box since I bought it lol. Haven't used the headphone jack either. The only wired headphone I use is on my DAP with balanced headphone output, for when I have the occasional urge for max quality.

Had it not been for the edu extra $100 off and my $25 giftcard offer, I would've waited for the S5E. When the S5E goes on sale in the future, it will be the best tablet for the money.

THANK YOU! This is the only reason I use my Tab S today. I have an iPad Pro but it's not nearly as enjoyable as a widescreen android tablet for dedicated offline media consumption while traveling.

Come on ... you can do better than that. Just don't provide a comment if it's causing you so much pain... you've done this before because we've discussed this previously in the past.
It sounds like it gave the person more pleasure than pain in all honesty

This. Gotta have some fun around here. Especially when SD just deletes my stuff with generic reasoning and no specifics. Then I antagonize them too.

And I believe the E stands for Economy. As it's the more financially economic version of the S4. The difference between that and essential is whether or not you find its feature set attractive.

That's why you have 42 posts and no reputation.

I literally commented on a guy today who asked a question in the thread that was LITERALLY in the first paragraph of the post.

Old time SDers are sick and tired of people who can't/won't read or quick google. Clogs up the threads.
