Author's Note
Free items aside, I think the S5e is a show of progress in terms of Android tablets because this particular market has been a bit dry. I have been following S5e news since CES 2019 and think this tablet has high value for consumers, especially because the older S4's price starts at a higher $529.99, and even the much older S2 and S3 models are expensive and still sell well.

Why, oh Why no headphone port? i have always thought Samsung to be the last remaining beacon for the reasonable design.
if they dare to remove it from their note series, i am done with samsung.

Expandable storage and DEX/wired screen mirroring makes this a much more attractive media consumption device than an iPad in my opinion. I will wait for LTE version though.

I did some reading online, they were aiming for a very thin and light form-factor so they couldn't put in a jack, however the tablet comes with a included Type-C to 3.5mm converter. So it's not like it's bluetooth or nothing, you just can't charge and have headphones plugged in at the same time. No idea if the new Note will end up with the same decision.

I did want it since it was previewed on YouTube, and thought I will upgrade to replace my Tab S2 8.0. I have Galaxy S10+ and this phone meets every my needs, so now I don't know is it worth to spend over $400 for an Android tablet which my phone can do the same.

I don't watch movies on tablet and if I need the big screen, I watch on the laptop instead. In addition, my Tab S2 8.0 bettery be weared too fast. I have to charge it every 2 days even I was not using it more than an hour per day.

I have never owned iPhone before and only use Samsung phones in last 8 years but for the tablet, I referred the iPad.

I love Samsung mobile products and even though this S5e is very attractive to me, it's overpriced in my opinion.

Better screen, much better battery life, much smaller.

Surface go has the ability to run windows apps and has better build quality but is kind of gimped by a dual-core 2ghz processor. It basically performs like mainstream laptops from 5-6 years ago which is very dated.

Surface go is arguably better for work (though you should just spend more and get a surface pro for real productivity). The s5e thing is for media consumption mainly.

Intrigued by this tablet because of the low price but not going to bite because the Tab S4 regularly goes on sale for $450 or so. At ~$300 this thing would be a better deal, $250 a steal.

Screen is glorious and performance is good enough. OLED's are amazing for consuming content like reading e-books (pure black background to minimize eye strain at night) and watching movies. Nice quad speakers too probably (haven't been able to check it out). A good thing about android devices is that they make great emulation devices (ios is too locked down). My old tab s can play everything up to n64 games.

Will probably get an s4 or this whenever they get close to $300 on sale. Could use an upgrade for my first gen tab s (which technically still has a better screen than all the newer models).

Wait, the S5e doesn't have a headphone jack?
That kills it completely. Even 50% off I wouldn't buy.
Yup, that blunder removed any last doubts I had about buying the Tab A 10.5 on clearance.

Thanks in advance, but can I pre-order on store and get the same trade in (tab s2 + smartthings hub) ? I have $150 in bb store credit that I'm unsure if I can use online.

Go for either Surface Go (8GB version) or iPad. Android tablets simply aren't worth it. Samsung will forget it within a year

Moreover, the SoC on this is also mid ranger so will be a slug 🐌 in a year time interval

They drop quickly. Put up a slickdeals deal alert. The S2 is dead, it's going to remain that high price forever, and nobody should pay that.

thinking of doing the amazon trade in for my Tab S2 8" for $100, then buying this for $399. Is this thing worth the $300 upgrade from the Tab S2 i got from 2016?

I never take the tablet away from home, watch netflix, youtube, browse the net.

I live in NJ and trying to find a place that doesn't charge tax and gives the free Hub. Please let me know if you see anything. I have a Tab S4 but like the feature of calls and text syncing with my S10e. BH, Best Buy and Samsung also charge tax in NJ.
