Is that a fair comparison, or are there equaly priced Harmonys? Maybe the intent here is if one wants to keep using the original remote and simply add functionality to it.

Does anyone know if this needs to learn from an original remote. I have one that's not fully functional so I'm afraid it won't be able to "teach" a learning remote =P.

Also I'm not getting the $19 price =O

I have one. This has 8 buttons on it and i believe they are all programmable. To program these you basically shoot the ir from the "teacher" remote into the sideclick. It will read/learn the signal and reproduce the same signal in operating mode.

Doesn't necessarily have to learn from the same remote.

My setup for AppleTV.
Power-TV
Volume-TV
Channel-TV
Source-TV Input toggle
A-TV Enter button (ok)
B-Input selector of my SoundBar.

It does those functions consistently and very well for daily use. Any special menu edits on TV or Sound Bar i just use the original remotes.

Deal works if you login! Derp.
Bought 2 for my Shields. The integrated volume control sucks on the shields remotes, plus I'll get to power tv on/off as I still have one without hdmi-cec.

"*Works only with NVIDIA® SHIELD™ remote with built-in rechargeable battery and headphone jack. Does not work with SHIELD remote with replaceable coin cell batteries"

But you can 3D print this file if you have the other remote: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3236765

Sort of. it's basically for people who don't have a bunch of devices (like just a TV and box, no receiver or other things to switch to) and/or if the box doesn't have IR support so that rules out cheaper Harmony remotes. Although, newer Roku and Fire TV remotes have buttons for TV volume/power now.

Yes. Much smaller too of course. It's a perfect universal remote if you like your fire remote but want it to do a couple more things.

In my case we used it for switching-hdmi-outputs and volume (receiver), turning on the projector, and pulling up/down the projector screen. A harmony could do all those anduch more but then it'd be one more (gigantic confusing) remote.

These days fires do a lot more, but it's still great if you just want 8 more buttons.
