Well duh. That test is done with both cameras in Super35 mode, i.e. crop mode. That means they are only using the middle part of the A7RII sensor. Of course there's no benefit to a full-frame sensor if you're not using the whole sensor!

SPECIAL ENDS 06/01/19

I'm in the market for one of these, but as "Dads and Grads season" is approaching, this may not be the best deal if you're willing to wait for the best deal. That said, this is by far the best deal since December 2018.

FYI Focus Camera IS an authorized Sony dealer [sony.com]

Accessories? You mean the bloatware? It's the same deal and it's top again today. I honestly think people are confusing the a7ii with the a7rii as this is not a deal. It's the same price at Amazon, it's just the price of the item as it's a number of years old. Some off brand bag and filter make a deal doth not!

I can't imagine anyone is confusing an a7r II with an a7 II. The price on that isn't going to just drop 50% overnight.

Free is free. Extra batteries (and chargers) are always good, generic or not. Sling packs are useful, generic or not. The tripod through focus is taller than the vanguard travel version.

Totally different additions. If you don't like the "bloat", feel free to send them all to me! laugh out loud That stuff is worth a good extra $100 over the base lens/body kits.

You must have more bags than my wife! I jest. I've always chosen to buy 'just' the lens from Amazon and not the package deal from a third party, despite the price being identical. I think after you have a camera bag, you're good on camera bags and so on. If we remove the "package" is it still a deal. I don't think it is.

Also on a more technical note, still on topic. Why would anyone buy this? Full frame literally only means you can use the body on better lenses and see the results. But if you're saving money on the body, you're likely saving money and buying the cheaper lenses.

To reiterate, and unless I'm missing something, the only advantage with full frame is that you do not have to do the math. 35mm is 35mm and that's nice. Other than that no advantage until you get into the thousand dollar glass, and then that leads back to the original question, of why you would be saving money on a ii and not an rii. A Sony A6300 for $600 would walk all over the a7ii for example, it's 4k too.

Not being a very good deal kills the deal for most.

IBIS vs. aA6000,6300 or 6400+ physical controls compared to any A6XXX camera.

Once this batch of A7ii @ this price are gone, whoever bought it at this price, should be able to sell it at exact same price, after some 6-12 months of use (Or even longer), on ebay. That is if what happened with A6000 is to repeat again.

No. Taxes kills everyone, in every State, yet by midnight tonight, we have survived another year of promised lower tax but paid actually a lot higher...MadPlease

And again No. This deal is great for a great product. That is if you really need one of this class.

The other main advantage is better lowlight. Because a full frame sensor is bigger physically then a crop sensor. More light it captured on a full frame sensor which gives you improved low light.
