They are very hard to come by these days. You can check out the Lowes thread in the coupons forum, sometimes they are posted there. https://slickdeals.net/f/12040323-we-had-to-remove-a-lowe-s-thread-today

You can also usually buy them on ebay for a couple bucks.

Well Wyze doesn't have spotlight cameras at all so it would be hard to compare the two. Wyze technically doesn't even make outdoor cameras yet but you can buy a sleeve on Amazon that will supposedly protect it from the elements.

Wyze is crap compared to Ring video quality. You get what you pay for.

My Wyze cameras actually have more consistent quality than my Rings. The Ring shows good wifi connections on all cameras but still sometimes they will pixelate or stutter, sending that to the cloud forever. I've heard from other users online this has to do with the Ring servers and/or the actual products. With Wyze I have full quality with no hiccups always stored on the SD cards and they never hiccup or pixelate with cloud storage. Wyze's app is actually better too IMO, shows motion detection details, more control in the settings, etc.

That's my experience with 4 Ring spotlight battery cameras and 3 Wyze regular cameras that are all placed at different intervals across my property. Wyze cameras are a beast for the money but unfortunately they don't have wireless or outdoor products. I do have one Wyze outside though with a 3rd party outdoor sleeve though and it performs better than the Rings overall. When they go wireless and make products that are rated for outdoor use I don't think I'll ever buy another Ring.

Ok. I feel better about my choice in Wyze after your input.

I just thought I might be missing something, like some awesome feature that I didn't know about.

I ended up paying less for 4 Wyze cameras (2 being full pan/tilt) than I would have for 1 Ring so I'm super happy about that. I'm not very picky when it comes to this type of stuff and don't need the best of the best. Just something that works well and is worth the price. I'm not sure the higher resolutions above 1080 will be beneficial to me, especially since they will certainly increase my data requirements when viewing remotely and for storage.

And I'm lucky enough to live in So Cal, where an indoor camera with sufficient cover for the occasional rain can work outdoor too.

I got a few of the battery versions of spotlight cams last year at Home Depot for $78 each I think it was. Not sure how that ever happened because they didn't act like it was a mistake at all, talked to the manager and everything while picking up. I'll be waiting until they drop below $100 again to get a couple more. Picked up some generic solar chargers on Amazon too for cheapppp. Along with a couple Wyze cameras you can really secure a house at a reasonable price nowadays.
There are generic solar chargers that work with the Ring cams?

They're unloading all current stock in anticipation of the new 4K model cameras in the summer. Prices will keep dropping. Everyone should wait either for a better price or the new model.
Source??

I can't find any information that event hints there is a new camera line coming out, including 4K models. I have no doubt they will eventually get there, but I do not see anything that indicates they are right now or that there will be a summer release.

These cameras have all dropped to these prices in the past year, or have come with free echo dot's etc. This isn't an indication there is a new model incoming.

I bought a RIng Stick-Up Cam wired (poe). I have this on the outside corner of my house. Daytime video and app features were great. However, at night, detection and overall video quality were not good. Furthermore, I have outside lights on the sides of my garage that were fooling this and keeping it from going into night vision mode. Either way, when I turned the outside lights off, forcing nightvision, or using normal vision with lighting provided by my outside lights, detection range was very short. Even when forcing night vision, if I was say 12 feet away and somehow it detected me, I could not even recognize myself.

I opened a support case with Ring. Their support is quite good. They sent me a RIng Spotlight cam wired to evaluate. I put it in the same location as the stick up cam. Nightvision had the same issue. Distance was a little better, perhaps detecting up to 9 feet for recording, but still very inadequate. The spotlight however would trigger when anyone was in the area, but unfortunately, this is not related to the detection used for video recording.

I ended up sending the Spot Light Cam back and keeping the Stick-Up cam. When I used my phone and app to talk to someone, it was better on the Stick-Up. Also, when you did a live-view, the Stick-Up was more instantaneous. I felt the Spot Light Cam timed out sometimes and didn't display unless I closed the app and re-opened.

I am probably going to move my Stick-Up cam near the front door area. It is under better lighting and I may want to talk to someone at the door.

Not sure what I am going to do at this point. Might try the 3 BlinkXt deal for $199 but I hate having to check two apps.
